20 January I wrote the two entries following this one first, but I cannot post them until I finish this one. I feel so accomplished, having written Monday's entry early and Sunday's entry on Sunday night, but Saturday's entry is still unwept, unanswered and unsung.
So yesterday (wink wink, Friday that is) I had my first rehearsal in a week. These actors, these actors and their schedules. We were supposed to rehearse part of the show on Tuesday and Wednesday, but on Tuesday I could tell fairly early in the day that I was going to be screwed to my chair for awhile, so I canceled and ended up working 'til midnight. Wednesday, Cynthia got work and there was as little point rehearsing without her as there would be rehearsing without me, so that one was canceled as well. The rehearsal went well, though, and nobody seems rusty, though everyone must get off-book. I cannot believe that we open in two weeks. Why am I always rushing like this?
I did have a glance at the space we are working in this morning, since we won't actually be able to work in it until tech, and it's about twice as wide as any space that I have ever blocked before. It's a massive space, a real barn, but at least my show takes place in three areas, so it won't be as though we are camped out in the middle of the stage as though it is a liferaft, we will be camped out in one third of the space at a time.
Snow snow snow. All yesterday they said that there would be 4" of snow this weekend (Derek: "There will be a mountain of snow this weekend!" Me: "Only a man would call four inches a 'mountain'!"), and now they are saying 6"-8". Where this snow is, I don't know, though. It snowed this morning, but nothing stuck. All the weathermen are talking about how everyone's hatches need to be battened down and all, but honestly, if the snow actually comes, it will only be the second snow of the winter, and it's the end of January. It's not the second ice age, people, it's just winter!
