(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

7 January

So, yesterday, though Saturday, I went into work.

I didn't think that I would have had time for all of my overtime if I didn't, but I really do like going in on the weekend--it's quiet and I can bring in my laptop and watch movies all day.

I watched The Limey twice and Rushmore twice, each once straight and then once with the alternate audio track. It was really great, but neither of them had really classic alternate audio tracks. Rushmore's was Wes Anderson, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman, but each separately, all cut together, which makes it less organic and interesting, and makes for a certain repetition of stories. The problem with The Limey's track was that, unlike the joyful and friendly and funny track of Steven Soderbergh and Scott Frank on Out of Sight, Soderbergh and Lem Dobbs seemingly aren't so pally and Dobbs spends the whole thing bitching about stuff changed from his script.

It was fun and I got alot of work done, but the problem with watching movies at work is I tend to forget about the time, and I suddenly looked up and it was midnight and there was a party I had been supposed to go to, a goodbye party for my dear friend Kevin, and by then it was too late and I was too tired. Sorry Kevin! I love you!

You know, I have worn my black clogs, my Cobbie Cuddlers every single day since I got them for Christmas. This pissed off Mom, because the other clogs, the Birks, are much more expensive, and I fell in love with the cheaper ones.

The thing that amazes me is not that I have another pair of shoes that I will wear daily after spending a decade or more in Easy Spirits and then suddenly discovering sandals last summer and wearing them every day until it got too cold, but that these shoes are not flat, they have about an inch and a half heel.

Now I have never worn heels! I am 5' 10½" without any help, which is certainly more than enough for anyone who is a girl, and have always worn the flattest flats that I could possibly find, but it was like a switch being flipped in my head, like when I hated museums and I hated them and hated them and wouldn't go near them, and then one day I was in one and suddenly I loved museums and adore them and always want to go to them.

Well, it was like that with the shoes--36 years of never wearing heels and then, suddenly, loving them and wearing them every day. So much so that when I kick them off and walk barefoot I feel a little short and squatty.

I suppose that I have come to two conclusions--one, that I don't currently at this time have a crush on a short man, and the other that I am already almost 6' tall, another inch and a half really doesn't make that much of a difference.

Are you hung up on your height?

And we are still talking about things that nobody else thinks is funny, worrying about looking silly, missing planes, how to look older, New Year's Eve, our New Year's Resolutions, dying our hair all kinds of colours, Disneyland, and what we got for Christmas.

Today's horoscope:
Go for the gusto! Excitement and recreation are highlighted. Let loose your inner child and have a good time.

One year ago today:
Well, at least tomorrow is the weekend, because if I tried to take a sick day, I think The Raccoon would pull my still beating heart out of my chest and crush it in her hand before my fading eyes.
