(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

28 February

Got home tonight and my phone was turned off. But I paid the bill, I did! Okay, I paid it somewhat recently, but still...I guess I won't be able to post my entries for awhile. O, wait, duh, I have a laptop! I'll take it upstairs and use Cynthia's phone.

It's funny how isolating it is not to be online, when just a couple of years ago, I was in This Island Apartment all the time and never noticed.

So, on Friday at work I left my desk for a few minutes and when I came back there was this beautiful white basket of daisies on my desk!

They were from Melissa, who had combed through my journal looking for a mention of what my favourite flowers were, and, unable to find them, accidentally picked the right ones! Actually, my favourite flowers are Sweet Williams, but they are only around for about a month out of the year and after that, forget it--the other 48 weeks of the year, I like daisies the best.

I was really so moved at her thoughtfulness. It would never occur to me to send flowers to someone when a pet dies, but I appreciated it so much that I will remember and pass it on.

But wait, there's more!

On Monday, when I got into the office, there were more flowers! A big, giant arrangement of, unfortunately, dead flowers. They must have been delivered on Friday after I left, or possibly Saturday, so I called 1-800-FLOWERS and had a replacement delivered.

The thing, though, was that the card, when I opened it, where the message should have been, said "No Signature Required", so I actually have no idea who sent it! Whomever it is is, I'm certain, thinking that I am an ungrateful wretch, but please let me know who you are, I really want to say thank you!

So when I turn my head to the left, I see Melissa's lovely white basket filled with my favourite flower, and when I turn my head to the right I see this blue glass vase filled with irises and marigolds and bluebells and lilies and sunflowers.

Everyone keeps coming up to me and saying "Happy Birthday!" "Nope," I answer, "Dead cat." And great friends.
