28 December I know, I know, I was all excited about having caught up and then I get behind again, but I just wasn't home for barely a second yesterday. We're all lucky that I was caught up for the amount of time that I was, I think. Which was, I think, 18 hours or so.
Yesterday morning I had my appointment at St. Joseph for my asthma test. Have I talked about this yet? I cannot be bothered to look it up. I called the other day to see if I could take care of all of my tests while I was home, and this one was the only one that I could set. My appointment was at 11a, but I needed to get there earlier to check in as an outpatient. Of course, when I got there, I realized that I had forgotten my slip with what tests needed to be done, so I asked if they needed it or if I could bring it afterwards or something, but no, I had to drive home to get it. Fortunately, I only live ten minutes from this hospital, it was the hospital I was born in, so it was pretty quick running home. I looked in the pockets of my leather jacket, but only the other three slips were there. I was looking and looking, and Mom said, "Have you checked your wallet?" "Of course not, why would it be in my wallet?" "Well, you should look." "Yep, there it is!" So I had had it with me all along. It's the passport thing all over again. When I went back to the hospital, I didn't tell them that it had been in my pocket as I was telling them that I didn't have it. The test was very interesting, breathing into this thing and watching my breath on the computer. As the test went on, it was shallower and shallower and the lines got less and less spiky. If they tell me after all that that I don't have asthma after all, I won't believe it, because the spiky lines don't lie.
On my way home, I passed by the glasses shop to see if my glasses were in, and they were! O, they are so cool! I swear to God, I have never looked so hip and cutting edge. Unfortunately, once I open my mouth I cannot live up to the promise of these glasses. I will have to work hard to seem as though I belong with them on my face, or they will run away to someone cooler. I think Jen wears glasses like this. See what I mean? I am nothing like as cool as Jen! They will get ripped of my face as I walk down the street by the Groovy Police, who will order me to dye my hair a duller colour as well.
After that was the LC party. I wore my new glasses and my fluffy fuschia deely-bobbers. People had to shade their eyes from my coolosity. The LCs are the Little Criminals, my Randy Newman email group on the internet, and we had a little get-together because I was in town. A very little get-together, just a few people, but it was really fun. Joan and I went to Susan's house, bringing her the cd of our song, since she is the one putting the cd together, which means that we had the fun of listening to all of the songs that she had gotten so far, most of which were stellar. The fun part was that we were waiting for Jim, and he didn't arrive, so we went up to listen to the songs, played ours and then someone else's, and then he got there, so we played ours again. And the second we stopped, Jacques and his son got there, and I yelled, "Hooray! We get to play our tracks again!" I've come a long way since I was hiding in the bathroom to avoid hearing the playback, ain't? Anyway, we listened to music and had pizza and petted the cat and talked about bondage (them still waters sure do run freaky!) and had a swell time. And Susan's house is completely gorgeous--I could live in her upstairs bathroom fairly happily, as it's about the same size as my current apartment. Do you think they'd notice if I did? Well, since the bathroom is between their bedroom and their walk-in closet, they just might.
