(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

25 April

Gawd, this morning slept until 9.18a. It's not so bad, the worst of the tiredness is over, really, this is just the ordinary lack of sleep, not the extry-special kind that I was having, and I didn't regret staying up until after 2a because I got to watch my man Stockton piss all over the Mavs and then do an interview afterwards.

Did they have his children hostage? He never does interviews!

This weather has been weird. It was lovely and spring-like last week, then suddenly, on Sunday, it got really warm. I didn't really notice, because I was either asleep or at work, but I did on Monday, as I was riding the bus up 10th Ave. and passed the Hess station where the temperature said 85° at 11a.

So I thought, "Ah well, skipped Spring again!"

This morning I woke up freezing cold, and apparently it's not even going to get to 60° today. And then I remember "O yeah, this is Spring in New York."

At rehearsal last night for Show #1, I was amazed to see the thing start clicking. Omar's still playing it really faggy, but he has made him Cuban (like Omar is) and that little adjustment either makes it realler or pasting a Ricky Ricardo accent on top of this already enormous character makes it so big that it is no longer ridiculous. Whatever it is, it works, and Omar will be great.

Susan (whose name I realized yesterday I didn't actually know) is doing her big Italian South Philly mob wife pretty much exactly the way that she always has been doing it, but it suddenly has become deeper, and now works where it was flat and fake before. I think part of it is Omar clicking in, strangely enough, because they are a two-headed beast, so Omar's finding his reality, while keeping it farcical, made Susan's character work, too. This sounds like she had nothing to do with it, and that's not how I mean it.

They are now both so good that I no longer think that the show will be a disaster, though I don't think it will get as good a reaction as the other cast members seem to think that it will. We will get a light house, I know we will, we always do, and we won't get the laughs, and we need to realize that, but they are all pooh-poohing the idea.

I know Love Creek. I know mid-week shows. I know of which I speak. And nothing is more dreadful than a farce where nobody is laughing.

Today's horoscope:
Today you feel a strong desire for smoothness and ease on the job. Your ability to create unity becomes an asset.

One year ago today:
Gone's my heart with a trifling rover.
Fine he was in the game he played-
Kissed, and promised, and threw me over,
And rode away with a prettier maid.
