21 September So, when I went into work on Tuesday, I was kind of dreading, in a way, everyone seeing my hair, the purple hair. I mean, all day long, everyone would be exclaiming about it, like on those strange days when I come in terribly early, and it would all get very tiresome. Then, no-one said a damn thing! I talked to several people, all of whom looked right at me and didn't say a word. They didn't even flick their eyes to my hair! It was very depressing, I went straight from "I hope people don't bother me about it," straight to, "Hey! Why aren't people bothering me about it!" Then I realized that we have pretty much entirely soft, indirect, ambient light in my office, and unless the light is shining right at my skull, my hair just looks dark red. Only in the bathroom did it shine. I vaguely considered staying in there all day, but I thought that it would be hard to do that casually.
It's all washing out at an amazing rate, of course, there isn't much less permanent than Manic Panic. I wish I could find something that stays a little longer, that doesn't turn my shampoo into purple suds. If you want it to stay in longer and be more vibrant, you might want to try Clairol Natural Instincts. They make a new color called Balinese Amethyst (or something to that effect) and it lasted much longer than Manic Panic. It's only semi-permanent, but it still lasted longer than any Manic Panic color I've used." It's a goddamn conspiracy, I say!
What did you expect people to notice about you and they totally didn't? And we're still talking about what surprises us about ourselves, icky stories, our most recent trip, the most spontaneous thing we've done lately, how we feel about medication, the one right way to do things, self-knowledge, running out of time, new movie recommendations, what we need to be happy, our offices, vocal tics, and bad movies we love.
