(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

6 September

Back to the salt mines.

Actually, it's not so bad at work these days, especially since we moved to the new space. Did I not mention the new space? We actually moved while I was on my holidays, and I came back to my twelfth desk in five years at this place. It may be the best one, though.

The most important thing is that I have easy access to The Raccoon, in that our cubicles are right together with a window inbetween so that I can make faces at her when people annoy me and the annoying people can't see it. This is vital. I'm across from Chekhov, which is handy, as he is my coder, and cute to boot.

The best part of all, though, is that the Evil Overlord is quite a distance away. No, wait, the best part of all is that my cube is in a cul de sac, meaning that no-one is ever walking by me. It's sweet.

I have no doubt that we will be moving again soon, since I like it so much.

The thing is, though, like last time, it's a pain to get anywhere else in the company.

We started out, you see, on the 6th floor. Then we expanded to the 6th floor of the building next door (Accounting moved there), then billing moved to the 5th floor, and now we have added the 5th floor of our original building.

It's not so bad going up to 6, though it's a little annoying when one has to go to 6 next door, but the real pain is going to 5 next door. This is because, though we started with a door between the buildings, there isn't a real staircase between them, just cinderblocks, so they nailed the door shut.

Then, apparently assuming that we carry around tire irons or something, and would pry the nails out rather than going around the long way, they then put six bookshelves in front of the door.

We get it, you don't want us to go round that way, fine.

Here's something that I forgot to write about Saturday.

I turned on a rerun of Saturday Night Live, and the music guest was N'Sync, who surprised me by doing a very funny boy band parody. I couldn't tell who the host was, but there was this really good new cast member, this kid who was very funny and talented. I wondered how it was that I never noticed him last season, but I thought that he might end up being pretty popular.

Then I realized, or course, that he was the host. It was the boy who plays Pacey on Dawson's Creek. I believe that makes me officially completely out of it!

No wonder over 35 isn't such a desirable demographic.

What's your office like?

And we're still talking about bad driving stories, bad hair days, our sense of direction (or lack thereof), vocal tics, looking on disasters as blessings, To Do lists, feeling a great sense of accomplishment, and bad movies we love.

Today's horoscope:
The lure of the new and different competes with the attraction of the known and familiar. Keep room for both in your family life.

One year ago today:
When I finally have to work a complete five day week again, I'm going to fall over from shock.
