22 October Okay, I had my first read-through yesterday and it pretty much went as I imagined it would. You know, besides the bit where I got lost and was half and hour late. One thing about being the director, though, no-one can yell at you about being late. The three actors that I knew that I had were great, the one actor who was gracing me with his presence read badly and seemed extremely bored. After it was over, I said:
"So, do you think that you can do the role in the amount of time that you have available?"
I'm happy not to have him and his immense attitude in my show, he's a complete drip, but now I have four people to cast, dammit. This show is making me crazy, and I don't want to hear that it's all my fault.
After rehearsal, I went to the office, not to work but to work on the Molly book, first mentioned here. I have been thinking about it lately, so I went into the office and started going through old entries and chose the ones that I wanted and cut them out and pasted them on clean sheets of paper and edited them a bit and wrote an opening section and five hours later, I had a book! Of course, I still have to go into the darkroom and choose the pictures and make them and match them with the text and stuff, but the text part is, actually, finished! This is my time to do long put-off projects, it seems. Maybe next I'll move Open Pages! Less glamorous, but equally procrastinated over.
