4 October O, something else that happened on Saturday (man, I'm never catching up, am I?)! I was downloading my email and quickly checking my auction alerts, not that I was planning on spending all this time bidding on auctions while I was with my friends, but I wanted to glance at them and make certain that there wasn't something hugely important. And there was this:
Perhaps the eBay description will help:
Opening night playbill for the play "Sixth Finger in a Five Finger Glove" by Scott Michel at the Longacre Theatre (New York) dated 10/8/56. This playbill is very rare since the play closed after only 2 performances on Broadway. Cast includes Jimmie Komack, Frank Campanella, Bill Zuckert, Gladys Holland, Paul Huber, Salome Jens, Conrad Bain and others. Recognize some names in there? I mean, besides Conrad Bain and Salome Jens. What that is is the Playbill of the show that my parents, Gladys Holland and Bill Zuckert, met doing. I bid $50, because I wanted to make certain that I got it, but I only ended up paying $9. I am so thrilled, over the moon, in fact. If my Mom doesn't have one, I'll give it to her, but if she does, I will be very pleased to keep it for myself. And when I wrote the guy and told him that these were my parents, he offered to sell me another Playbill of my Da's, The Gang's All Here! Maybe I'll give that one to Mom as well. I'll think about it.
Lord, it's 9.21 and I have to go to work. Sorry I'm fucking you again, ducks, but The Raccoon won't be in today, so I have to maintain some semblance of authority by getting in at 10a rather than 11a. Don't forget that Journal of the Week, And Did You Get What You Wanted?!
What souvenir of your parents' life would you kill to have? And we're still talking about car-crash journals, our friend's mates, being a morning person or a night person, my old designs, what breaks our hearts, doing what we didn't think we could do, working with children or animals, Drugstore.com coupons from Kim, waiting until the last second to do something important, unlikely fears, strange things overheard, travelling with a band, not being noticed, what surprises us about ourselves, and icky stories.
