(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

7 November

Well, we teched last night, and it went fairly well, except for the fact that one of my actresses is completely insane. The woman has been put on this earth to make me crazy. Not that everything is about me or anything.

I got to work yesterday morning at 9.30a, shocking all and sundry, and no-one was there but The Raccoon today.

It's funny, I know that there is certainly too much work for just the two of us, but it really is restful when it's only the two of us. And I got an astonishing amount done. Like the wind I worked!

I have a wheelchair in my show, and when I first saw the script I said, "O great, where am I supposed to find a frickin' wheelchair?" and Cynthia said that the Love Creek wheelchair actually was residing in our garage right that little minute.

Sunday I suddenly thought about the damn wheelchair again. We weren't in the space this weekend, so the only day that I could bring it out was yesterday, and I certainly couldn't bring it to work with me, or take it in in the van, so I batted my eyelashes prettily, and Cynthia agreed to drive it in to me.

I forgot to get it out of the garage for her yesterday morning, and I'm kinda glad because I would have been doing it on my own and it practically killed Cynthia and Katie doing it together!

I observed that this wheelchair was a do-it-yourself cripple kit, because it weighs a thousand pounds, and after it falls on you as you try to get it down, you can just get right into it!

The tech went pretty good, except that Winni managed to quite smoothly cut an important section at the beginning where we introduce the male character and find out why the hell he is onstage at all, instead he just sat there like a lox, being slightly confusing to the audience.

As I said to Winni, better to make that mistake at tech than anytime after that.

And then there is the matter of my insane actress. She keeps laughing throughout the show. She's sitting, watching the people talk, and she will suddenly do this little bark, and to me it sounds as though the actress had completely left character and has become part of the audience. I have told her five times to knock it off, but she is essentially undirectable and just keeps up with the out-of-character chortles.

Last night I said, "Please, I am begging you, stop with the laughing!"
"But if things strike me funny, as the character..."
"It doesn't sound like the character, it sounds like you, and don't do it."
"But sometimes in life, things strike us funny and we laugh..."
"I don't care, I don't want you to laugh."
"But I think it's reasonable for me to laugh, I think..."
"Fine, laugh, don't laugh, I don't care, I don't want to discuss it."

But she couldn't let it drop. She absolutely cannot stop talking, it doesn't matter if you look her right in the eye and say "Stop talking now!" it's as though she doesn't hear you and she just keeps blabbing on, repeating herself over and over again. I finally had to run out of the dressing room.

She also, directly before going onstage, decided that she had to pee, so she did, holding up tech. When I ran downstairs, I met another of my actresses on the street and I said, "I had to come down to stop myself from hitting Insane Actress."
"You know, it was weird, before we went on, she asked me if she had time to go to the bathroom and I said no, and she said okay, and then she asked if she had time to go to the bathroom and I said no, and she said okay, and then the next thing I knew, she was going to the bathroom!"

I cannot believe this, but it looks like for this show I will have to make sure that an adult actress pees ten minutes before going onstage. Sigh.

Who is the craziest person you know?

And we're still talking about weird sports, Hallowe'en costumes, death, and Rocky Horror.
