9.51a and I haven't actually started yet. I can tell this entry is gonna be a winner! Better do Rate-A-Trailer and the contest. O, and Journal of the Week, 'cause it's Thursday and I've only mentioned it once.

Okay, here we go...

The contest. What contest? I'll tell you what contest.

About a week ago, I read this great phrase in an article and I thought "I must remember that, that's a great line."

And then, a couple of days later I thought, "That phrase would make a great new journal title."

And then I thought, "It could be my new journal title."

And then I thought "I'm getting a new journal title?"

Well, I guess I am!

This journal has had two names since it began, but since they both dribbled into each other, it was never a big change. I started out calling it The Mighty Kymm's Home Page (like a big dork), then sort of half-dropped the Home Page part of it. Then, when I redesigned the whole thing and moved to this domain, I called it Hedgehog Tales, though that name really only appears in the title line at the top of the page, you know, the bit that appears in your bookmarks, it was never on a graphic.

Well, now I want to use this new phrase (though I'll keep that Mighty Kymm in there, 'cause that's my trademark) and I want to redesign the front page and have a big graphic with my new name on it. You see what's coming?

People sometimes ask me why on earth so many people make design sets for me. And I say "Shhh, don't scare them away!" I have no idea why people just whip up these terrific things for me, usually without my hinting at all (I have three on deck right now, so I'm set for at least three months, if not six, 'cause I may keep them up for two months each) but I am honoured and thrilled whenever anyone does.

So, anyone who has made me a graphic in the past, or anyone who has wanted to but didn't want to have to make a background and a title and a bar and a small spacer, I'm having a "Make Kymm's New Graphic" contest to replace that beautiful one of Brittly's that's on the front page now. Where is Brittly, anyway?

There are no specifications whatsoever but the phrase, which I am keeping under wraps until the unveiling, so if you are interested, drop me a line and I'll whisper it in your shell-like.

I discovered it because Caoimhe wrote me a really sweet note after my "nobody likes me everybody hates me guess I'll eat some worms" entry of a few weeks ago.

Now, I don't often check out journals of people that write me the first time (bad sentence, bad!) simply through lack of time and way too many journals, but she mentioned that she was Irish, and my ears just pricked up and I popped over.

And I'm hooked! She's a terrific writer and has a great voice, but also she is showing a life that is very different from any other journal writer's out there, and it's a great hook.

So, off you go!

No time for Rate-a Trailer, maybe I'll rate them along with whatever I see this weekend (I'm leaning towards Gladiator again--can I please get obsessed with a movie shorter than 2 1/2 hours for once? I mean, the last one was Green Mile!).
