3 May So, I have become obsessed by Sonicnet.com Back when it was Imagine Radio, I had my station and listened to it all the time, but then it sort of fell apart and I could never connect, and I heard that it had been bought by MTV or something, and I just forgot about it. I must have seen that "Me Music" Sonicnet commercial about fifty times before it dawned on me that it sounded familiar, and that maybe it was just like Imagine Radio, then I discovered that it was Imagine Radio, because it still had my station on it! Of course, I still had to pick and add categories, which means that there is a bunch of crap on there that I don't want at all, but I'm slowly getting rid of them. It's funny, sometimes when I launch it, it appears to think that I am just the most fanatical country and blues fan in all the land. Now, I like some country and blues, but I'm not the fanatic that Sonicnet appears to think that I am. They could do to play a little more folk at me, thank you very much. But I am discovering some of the most wonderful artists! As I listen, I'm all "No, I never want to hear him again, or her, or the, no no no! Yes! That one! All the time! Yes yes yes no!" changing the frequency rating to 5 or 0 (it's all or nothing with me!) and then adding people to The Wishlist That Ate New York ( Melissa is the only one who understands that a wishlist doesn't mean "I wish that people would but these for me" but instead "I wish that I could remember what the hell the name of that book was that I want to get!"). I have discovered John Wesley Harding, Shriekback , Mia Doi Todd , Terry Allen, Mimi & Richard Farina , Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Cesar Rosas, Bad Livers, Paul Clayton, Big House, and Jimmie's Chicken Shack, and that's only after a week!
For the past couple of days, though, I have been listening to the Broadway station, which means that I can relax and not rate artists, but that also means that I desperately want to replace all of my Broadway albums that I haven't been able to listen to for years, with cds! Not that I need to listen to Evita or Side By Side By Sondheim to hear the music, as it's all in my head, but it's such a treat to hear again at last. Good old Sonicnet!
However, this does mean that I have "With One Look" from Sunset Boulevard stuck in my head, but since I don't actually know the song, it's a little irritating. "DAAAAAAH da DEEE da da da DAAAAAAAH, da da dee daa daa DAAAAAH DA DEEEE daa daa!!!" gets a little old after six or seven hours.
Here it is, Wednesday (not to mention 10.34a and I'm not dressed and the cats haven't been fed) and no Journal of the Week yet! I'll elaborate tomorrow (theoretically) but it clearly must be Blue and Green!
