God, I'm tired.

I have left work early every night since last Wednesday, so last night I cut rehearsal (calling the most happy-go-lucky director in all the land, "Michael, would it screw you up if I didn't come to rehearsal tonight?" "Not if you tell me ahead of time! So I'll see you at Monday night. Rehearsal starts at 6p, but you can get there at 7p or whatever you like. La la la!") and worked until midnight.

Which means that I didn't get to bed until after 2a. Argh.

So yesterday was Ash Wednesday, and when I got in, this guy made an overhead announcement about mass times at a nearby church, which I found helpful, so I went to church and sang along with the rather florid baritone cantor and got my ashes and went back to work.

I rubbed my forehead, of course, but I looked in the mirror at the end of the night and saw a good Catholic girl, rather than, as I feared, a filthy, smudged slattern who rarely washes her face.

And then the guy who made the announcement got fired.

Now, I don't like this guy, never have, he's annoying and tiresome, but I must say that that sucks. Did they have other reasons for firing him and this was the last straw? I sure hope so, because that's about the stupidest reason for firing anyone that I've ever heard, that's something that you give a warning about.

My new nickname for our new mean-as-a-snake HR director is Simon Legree.

As Beth said, this may sound like I'm taking the piss, but congrats Scott! I've always felt that he would be a great dad.
