(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

29 June

Saw the last half-hour of this completely hilarious movie last night. I think it's called Soldier, but I can't be shifted to look it up for sure.

Wait, if I'm gonna link it, I'm going to have to. Hang on. Yep, it's Soldier, and a better movie to watch part of I have rarely seen. It's such a packaged, obvious, lock-step movie that you can come in at any point and understand everything.

O, it's a real scream, Kurt "Look, I'm Not Really That Old, Check Out These Abs and Ignore My Skull-Like Visage" Russell hitting and being hit and snapping bones and cuddling tots and calling women "sir", 'cause he's a soldier, see.

I must see the first hour sometime, I can only imagine that it's more of the same, but it's nice to have a movie on that you don't even have to watch the first time you watch it.

Then was the second half of something British called Oktober, which just rocked my world in ten seconds and made me regret wasting my time with ol' Kurt, but it's being repeated next Wednesday at midnight, so that's cool.

It's, well, I don't really know what it is, but I think that it's about a man who is haunted or tricked into thinking that he's haunted by his friends who aren't really his friends, and there are these dreams that might not be dreams and the whole thing just thrilled me to no end, thinking that it's three parts and I'm going to get to spend all of July watching it.

Then was the E Celebrity Profile Marie Osmond.

This was actually better than I thought it would be, she's very sharp and much more normal than anyone could have expected considering that she grew up all famous and things, and it was very interesting to see her and Donny talking about each other seriously rather than teasingly. They really respect and admire each other, and I like that.

I was so crazy about the Donny and Marie show when I was 13. I started out because Mel Powell, the love of my life, was wild about them, and so I was, too. I haven't changed much.

All that cheese, and I missed the Monkees tv movie, but I did catch the Monkees episode of Behind the Music.

Is it lame to love The Monkees as I do? When I was a tiny itty bitty tot, it was on Saturday mornings or something, and all of my friends loved Davy the most, but I loved Mike. And, until a few years ago he was by far aging the best, plus there's the whole Liquid Paper millionaire mother thing, and the Elephant Parts thing, so I certainly think that I chose wisely.

Baby, I even love Head!

Look what a show-off I am! I amaze myself sometimes.

And, don't forget our Journal of the Week, Journalese! In today's entry, she mentions writing a recommendation letter for a friend, saying "if she can’t get a legendary job with that she’ll have to check her body odour."

What's your guilty pleasure?

And we're still talking about our new favourite books the nature of fame, beating the heat, scars, how we've changed since high school, pettiness, the vans (which has bizarrely morphed into a discussion of Dune), and still, and always, our big fat asses.
