(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

27 June

I dyed my hair last night!

You have no idea how thrilled I am! It was so faded, all blondish-reddish-strawberry...no, none of those. Really, it was roan. Or hair-coloured hair. Coupled with the inch long grey-blonde roots, it was a vision of ugliness, but I couldn't dye it because of the show.

It was mostly covered by a hat in the show, but I didn't want to have to powder it or anything to cover the bits that showed, so I just let it fade. And now it's dark dark red again, and I'm as happy as a little girl.

(I accidentally typed "happy as a little git", which is probably truer, but I decided to change it).

The strangest thing has happened, I am suddenly absolutely covered with freckles!

I was looking at my arms, my lovely tanned arms, and I looked a little closer and realized that I have about five million freckles on my arms that were never there before.

I swan, my entire childhood I was dying for freckles, all of my favourite heroines had them--Pollyanna and Beany Malone and Pippi Longstocking and Anne of Green Gables and Peppermint Patty, they all were freckled as the day was long, and I wanted them, too.

I wanted a dusting of freckles across my nose, because I thought that a freckled nose was the most beautiful thing in the world, like Jodie Foster's or Hayley Mills' or my arch-rival Kim Richards'.

Of course, now that I have them, I understand why most of those heroines above were constantly trying to bleach their freckles with lemon juice or accidentally dying their noses red, because the freckles on my arm are just the most freakish-looking things that I have ever seen. I'm speckled like a toad!

Is it as weird as I think it is to suddenly become freckled at the age of 35 and 5/6? Does it mean that I am entering my second childhood? Does it mean that I never left my first?

Hey, check out Anne's good review of my show! Well, good review of me, which is the same thing, as far as I'm concerned.

The ingenue she mentions is the girl who played the lead in the show of Pamie's that I directed, and she is very talented indeed.

Here are two different views on fame, Patrick's and Lucy's. Which one is closer to yours?

Do you want to be famous? As what?

And we're still talking about beating the heat, scars, how we've changed since high school, pettiness, the vans (I still haven't answered, but people's guesses are getting funny), not caring, moviestar crushes (now turned into a "give Kymm Russell Crowe links" thread), and diets.

And I haven't done Journal of the Week in like two weeks, and I think it's time to start up again!

This week it's a new journal by a long-time reader of mine, though I actually found out about it through Beth, called Journalese, and it's the journal of a New Zealander living in London, and it's terribly funny and interesting. Plus, there are only seven entries, so you can read the whole thing and be all caught up without weeks of reading! It's always good to catch a good journal right at the start.

Today's horoscope:
Unexpected news comes your way. Be prepared and you can make the most of whatever occurs.

One year ago today:
As Cynthia and Fran said afterwards when I was telling them this story, had I not suffered enough without being aged five years by a paramedic?
