12 February So yesterday, at long last, the dates for my high school reunion have been set, and the dates are... 6-9 October! Now, why do those dates sound familiar? Hmmm...O yeah! It just figures that the two things that I want to do in this whole year occur over the exact same weekend. Of course, there is no question which I choose, I choose my reunion. I had tons of fun when I went back in '92 and '93, but this one should be even better, because the range of years is '79 to '82, which covers my exact high school career. When I was a freshman, all of my friends were juniors and seniors, so this way I'll hopefully be able to see friends from then. So, no JournalCon for me. And I was asked to be a featured speaker, too! Ah well, this way I don't have to worry about being as funny as Pamie.
Actually, there is something else I want to do this year, but I only found out about it Thursday night, when Never wrote to tell me about Eddie Izzard's tour! Here are the dates. I wasn't able to try to get tickets until the next day, when I found out that New York was completely sold out, the Saturday night in Philadelphia was sold out, so I tried Boston's Saturday night, and not only was it not sold out, but I got a great seat. So I'm finally going back to Boston, and I'm not canceling this time, 'cause I've already spent $40!
And last night was my opening, and here's what I told my cast before the show: "I have no notes after tech last night, because I don't note during tech or performance. I figure that, at this point, the show is what it is, and unless it is necessary to say 'Why have you just changed your entire character and blocking and threw your fellow actors out the window during the show?' I keep my mouth shut. The only difference between tech and the rehearsal the night before was that you lost some of the lightness, the bubbliness, the sparkle--a show like this is like juggling soap bubbles, it takes a very light touch. And I don't believe that Wednesday night was an aberration, because you did it twice that night!" And did they? Well, kinda. Unfortunately, the audience was quiet as the dead, and when the audience is quiet, I certainly can't start howling like a wolf, not while I'm running the lights and sound and would look like a big ho. But, quiet audience or no, they did a lovely job and I was very proud.
I have finally changed my email announce sound. I know, I know, you're mesmerized. Well, if you wanna be like me, you'll use Pamie's Beatboxing to let you know when new mail arrives. It wakes up Monty every time it plays, and seeing him staring blearily at the computer speakers makes me laugh harder than the sound itself does!
