7 February So yesterday we had our rehearsal for Philip, the artistic director of the company, and it wasn't bad at all! In fact, it was infinitely better than the "trying to remember my lines" debacle of the day before, so much so that they cut about ten minutes off the show. It should be shorter, but at least it wasn't 45 minutes long! However, there are a couple of changes that need to be made, but it turns out that we can't rehearse again until Wednesday, which is the day before tech. Argh. At least I can work alone with Cynthia at home tonight, so that she doesn't get all tense about having to change her character at the last minute.
I saw just the most wonderful movie yesterday! Or, to be more accurate, I saw half of the most wonderful movie yesterday! It's a Paul Newman film called Nobody's Fool that got the greatest reviews in all the land, but just died at the box office. I mean, I didn't see it, either, I remember thinking that, reviews or no, I wasn't particularly interested. Boy, was I wrong! It is the most charming, funny, wonderful small town portrayals that I have ever seen. It's one of those great movies where every small character is just aces. And keep in mind that I only saw half! I can only imagine my reaction had I seen the entire film! Paul Newman is about the only actor of his generation who is actually playing his age, and did so before he really needed to. I mean, look at Redford, still blonde, still playing romantic leads with young women, and looking, as Cynthia said, pickled. But Newman is flat out playing a grey-haired grandfather in this film, and because of that honestly about his age, and, of course, the fact that he is Paul Newman, he is tremendously attractive and it makes perfect sense that a young and beautiful Melanie Griffith considers having an affair with him! It's playing again on Friday, can't wait!
Since I will be spending the entire day at work, and then go home and rehearse with Cynthia, then go to bed with my cats, I can only imagine that my horoscope below is in a different reality than I am.
