3 February Hmm, apparently there is an IE Mac problem with this redesign, the page appearing blank. I don't know why, 'cause all I changed was one < td align=left valign=top width=200 >< /td >, and since I changed both halves of the < td >, I don't know why that would screw up the page! I also looked at this page on my browser at work, where my monitor is ever so much darker than it is here, and realized that grey type on a black background with dark red links is just a little too sombre for dark monitors, so I lightened everything a little. So no complaints!
So last night's rehearsal was, well, interesting. We were having it at Chris' house in the city, and I was running a little late, so I rang him and said that I'd be ten-fifteen minutes late and for someone to give the new cast members scripts to look at. His machine picked up, which I thought was odd, but it didn't set off any alarm bells or anything. When I got there, Nicole was standing in the foyer, with no other actors around her.

So it seems that he didn't get my message confirming that rehearsal would be at his house, so he just trundled out to Jersey. So we waited for him to get back, then Nicole went and fetched the cast from the diner and we started only an hour late. It was to have been my very first rehearsal with an entire cast, but 'twas not to be, as Ant'ny's kid got hurt at school so he had so run off and take care of him. He called me all apologetically, but as I told him, injured children are a good excuse for missing rehearsal, not one that you get yelled at for. I did have my two new cast members, though--Deborah, whom I cast last week but who couldn't make a rehearsal before last night due to going out of town, and Omar, the nine millionth person in the role of the tutor, and by far the best. It was amazing how I lucked out. I went through every member of the company, it seems, to get my nine cast members (only three were on the original sheet that I was given), and rather than having barrel-scrapings, I have a really swell cast! So we blocked, and I cracked myself up with the bits I put in (I tend to amuse myself greatly when I direct comedies) and recycled notes from previous show ("As I told Wende in the Billy the Kid play, 'a little more virginity, please!') and we got to Ant'ny's entrance, which made for a natural stopping place. So, we're almost blocked, I'm very happy with my cast, and I don't have to rehearse tonight! All is right with the world.
I promise not to mention this every day or anything, just this week, but like my Christmas card offer, it's always best to mention it a few days in a row so that everyone interested can sign up. Checked out AllAdvantage yet? It's this advertising bar that goes at the bottom of your screen and they pay you for having it open while your surfing, and (full disclosure) they pay you for the surfing time of anyone who joins under you, too. The important thing is that it's not permanent, you can close it down if you like, and it's not particularly annoying, so why the hell not have it? So, if you want a painless couple of bucks and my undying gratitude, click here (and yes, I'm IDT-284).
