(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

25 December

Merry Christmas, internet!

I'm downstairs, watching the traditional Christmas "Price is Right", waiting for Mom to get up so that we can open the presents! The baby Jesus only knows when that will be, though, since we got home from midnight mass at 2a and she hadn't even started wrapping presents until then!

When we were in the car coming home from church:

ME
O, my stocking is in the hallway on the thing where the lightbulb was.

MOM
Your what?

ME
My stocking! My Christmas stocking!

MOM
I forgot all about that, I don't have anything for it!

ME
Well, that is just too bad, isn't it? I want my stocking!

MOM
No, I really forgot! I usually get little cheap things for it, but I really haven't got a thing. Hey, why don't we put your caramel apple in it?

ME
No!

MOM
Yes, that's a great idea!

ME
Absolutely not!

MOM
Why not?

ME
Well, first of all, it's too big, the plastic thing that it's in is this wide, so it would never fit, and secondly because I bought it for myself, so that is cheating!

MOM
Well, I just don't know what I'm going to put in it.

ME
You'll think of something. I have faith in you.

And she did! In it was the jinglebell ornament in the shape of a bunch of grapes that we had gotten as a present for someone before deciding to give her something else, my Nantucket Briar room spray from Crabtree and Evelyn that I picked out myself, but Mom kindly bought, a peppermint soap, a pin with theatre masks, a pearl bead necklace (I feel like Anne of Green Gables!), a fancy band to put around a cowboy hat (now I understand her asking me casually if I had a cowboy hat, to which I answered, "Mother, I live in New York!") and a Rugrats in Paris Chuckie and Kimi watch that is just a scream!

I have to start the bread pudding and I might as well make the traditional Christmas blueberry muffins before Mom staggers out of bed, so I will cut this short.

Have a wonderful day, all of my readers, and thanks for being with me!
