(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

25 August

So, birthday week continues apace!

Yesterday I got a package of unbelievable Australian candy and cookies from Amanda. I won't admit to having any mint slices left, and the Yowies are great, because there is a toy inside of a highly poisonous Australian creature that you get to put together and then study so that you don't get bitten by one!

Then I got a DVD of Girl, Interrupted from Beth. I really cannot tell you how much I want to get my damn laptop back! You know, the one with the goddamn DVD player in it!

In the evening, we had the family party, which was fun.

We had pizza outside, which was my idea, and therefor my birthday present from New Jersey was about eight mosquito bites. West Nile Virus for everyone! A round on the house, from me! And of course, ever since reading those symptoms, I suddenly have every one. I am so suggestible.

Anyway, then we went inside and had the brownie cake that I forced Cynthia to make for me, and I opened my presents. I got a set of three noserings, all fancy with beads and wire wrapped round and things, Traveling Mercies, and Bridget Jones : The Edge of Reason, which wasn't the most giantest shock in all the land, since Cynthia had casually asked me the other day if I had read it yet. And then, from Katie and Molly, a little hanging thermometer, like a birdhouse. Very sweet. And handy, since I can never tell how the heck I should dress in the morning!

I considered leaving the house that day, but didn't. O wait, I did! But just to go into town for the post office for like an hour.

Am I living the high life or what? Boy, do I ever take advantage of living right up by the greatest city that the 20th century produced, or what?

Are you a hypochondriac?

And we're still talking about favourite musicals, happy birthday, the worst remake ever, cartoon character crushes, what Amazon.com might come up with next, vacations, Russell and Meg's big break-up, our favourite kind of cake, what we did this weekend, insomnia, the defining current event of our childhoods, good web-based newsreaders for Kim, our jobs, classic books that we hate, seeing things differently as one grows older, weird injuries, dreams that we thought were true upon awakening, weeping at movies, true love, and swearing.

Today's horoscope:
You're inclined to be too hard on yourself today. Nobody's perfect. Give yourself a break.

One year ago today:
And, in a great example of "things that only happen on your birthday", we drove from 12th St. to 42nd St. without hitting a red light until 41st St!
