21 August Okay, I think I need to elaborate on the whole cake thing. Melissa decided to make me a cake for my birthday, but couldn't figure out what kind to make me, since I am so well-known as being the pickiest eater in the known universe. She did a search on this site, but though I mentioned cake fairly often (apparently, usually after making an announcement about how much weight I had just lost), I never said a kind, so I thought, as a public service announcement for anyone who would like to make me cake in the future, exactly what kind of cake I like most. First of all, when if comes right down to it, cake is mostly all good. If it's cake, it's hard to go wrong. Melissa ended up with chocolate cake with white frosting and sprinkles and "Happy Birthday Kymm" on it in blue, and it was just great! I tend to be snobby about scratch v. mix cakes, but that's mostly in terms of what I make, not what I eat, and remember, if it's cake, it's good! My favourite kind of cake in the world is coconut cake, meaning white cake with white frosting with coconut all over it, and not the kind with lemon filling. I am very anti-filling, I don't want jam anywhere near my cake. Cake should be frosting and cake, and I don't mean whipped cream (unless it's a strawberry shortcake, another one of my favourite cakes) I mean real frosting, and plenty of it. The proper frosting-to-cake ratio, I'd say, is about one-to-one.
Another one of my favourite cakes is brownie cake, and I love brownie cake so much that I am including the recipe, because you will love it, too. Brownie Cake With Nutty Frosting
1. Brownie Cake
That's a really great cake. So, coconut cake, strawberry shortcake, brownie cake. Let's see, what else do I like? German chocolate cake, regular chocolate cake, devils food cake, white cake, yellow cake, with chocolate frosting or vanilla frosting, or any kind of frosting. That lemon cake with the glaze that you pour over it. Remember, if it's cake, it's good! Just no jam fillings and preferably not whipped cream, unless it's strawberry shortcake. And not to be goopy, but the best kind of cake is the cake that somebody makes for you because they want to make you happy and give you a surprise, so honestly, even if it had been poop cake covered in snot flavoured whipped cream with lemon filling, I'd have still appreciated it. Though perhaps I wouldn't have eaten it so enthusiastically.

What's your favourite kind of cake? And we're still talking about what we did this weekend, insomnia, the defining current event of our childhoods, good web-based newsreaders for Kim, (c'mon, people, somebody must know something!), our jobs, classic books that we hate, seeing things differently as one grows older, weird injuries, dreams that we thought were true upon awakening, weeping at movies, true love, and swearing.
