19 September I was going to go out yesterday and do all these things that make for an interesting entry, but it was a day of such post-hurricane loveliness that I just sat in the backyard and purred.
Well, I did watch You've Got Mail on DVD. Twice. You see, there's an alternate audio track of Nora Ephron and Lauren Shuler-Donner, the producer, and I looooove alternate audio tracks, but you really do have to watch them right after watching the movie straight or you aren't entirely certain what's going on. So that's what I did. I do love the movie, and the alternate track was wonderful, full of details about how Tom improv-ed that line and how this bit was to show how New York can be a small town. It's always best when the alternate track is done by someone well known as being smart and funny and articulate--it's like MST3K only without the jeering. Now I want to watch Young Frankenstein (alternate track by Mel Brooks, how good will that be?), but I think I can skip the straight viewing, 'cause I just saw it the other week.
There was a barney on Journal-L (you read that right, not Diary-L!) that was so idiotic that I practically unsubscribed. Sometimes I am so sick of the journal community and everyone in it that I just want to get off all of the lists and stop reading everyone and only write my own journal alone in the void. What is it about the internet that makes adults act like third graders? Third graders with Tourettes and ADD?
I wish that I could find my copy of Heartburn, because there's this great quote about how after Rachel's therapy group is robbed, that they might as well disband the group because all they were going to do for the next year is discuss the robbery that they would forget what they were there for.
