(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

16 September

Boy o boy it is raining like a sonovabitch. Our little corner of Hurricane Floyd. Of course, it's embarrassing complaining about a little (well, lot) of rain when the Carolinas are really being slammed, but hey, I'm made of sugar and am likely to melt!

At least there isn't another flood.

Been reading all kinds of wonderful books lately, so I thought I'd do the whole Amazon Associates thing. I doubt I'll ever get a penny from it, but no reason not to do this!

I remember a long time ago when we all had all these standards that a couple of people equated Amazon Associates with putting giant ads all over your page, and only bad sluts have giant ads all over their pages.

As opposed to the good sluts. Anyway, that's all nonsense, so I have joined the Bad Slut Brigade.

If you remember, I got four of the Narnia books from the library the other day, and have devoured them immediately.

To answer a couple of concerned queries, of course I own these books, but actually the copies I have are my old set from when I was a kid (in the correct order!) which are not only falling to bits but are, I believe, in California.

So I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and The Silver Chair and reveled in every word. There are all these moments that are burned into my brain and reading them again after so much time is like seeing old friends.

When I was a kid, my favourite was The Horse and His Boy, but now I think it's The Silver Chair. The scene where Rillian is in the chair and talking about the world above "There used to be a little pool..." (guaranteed to make me weep), the stay with the bad giants, the horses underground, Caspian young again at the end of the world, beating the bullies at the end, all of it.

Of course, I love the others, too. When I was a kid, though, the only ones that I didn't read the covers off were The Magician's Nephew and The Last Battle. I think that I read the first two chapters of the former and the first few pages of the latter before throwing them down in disgust.

Much later, I finally read them and of course they were great, but I think that I only read them once each, because I read them after the point where I was reading the series every six months! So when I get them out of the library this time, it will be like reading whole new books because I really don't remember what happens in them.

Yesterday morning Martha Stewart made Swiss Chard Ravioli. I can only assume that this means that she has made every single other recipe in the entire world.

Or at least those not involving eyeballs.
