2 September Yesterday, back at work, did the check run, avoided my calls. Nothing new. The weather has been so lovely this week. Sitting in the backyard on Tuesday was such a treat--I've spent plenty of time in the backyard this summer because it has been too hot to live, but this is the first time in simply centuries that I was out there not because it was better than being in the hot apartment, but because it was a stunning day. The garden was an absolute jungle, too! The drought was so long and everything was dying, but the giant storm last week that flooded my apartment also goosed that backyard to quite astonishing growth. The lawn is so high that it is literally impossible not to sit on a toy (and I know!) and the flowers that John had given up for lost are all blooming madly. I love this weather so much. And I'd better enjoying it while I can, because this winter's gonna be a bitch.
There always must be a certain number of pregnant journallers, so now that Dreama has had her baby, Diane is pregnant! Okay, admittedly she's been pregnant for a few months but she only came out about it after Dreama had hers, so that counts! In other journal news, congrats to all of the Diarist.net award winners! It was nice to see such a high percentage of my friends winning ( Pamie, Columbine, Georgina, Toni, Lynda, and Al) not to raise the tiresome spectre of cliques and cabals again, just to emphasize how talented my friends are!
I babysat Molly the other week, and she had a fortune cookie for her dessert. I read her the fortune, which said "Depart not from the path that fate has you assigned".
"Do you know what that means, Molls? It means 'Be a good girl'!"
She clutched that little piece of paper for the rest of the evening, until it fell apart from her sweaty palm.
They are advertising this new programme called Later Today to follow the Today Show, and the tag line is "Join us for Later Today it's like Today, only later!" I don't know, it looks to me like "it's like The View only on a different channel!" but I'm cynical that way.
