23 October I do love my weekends. I hate office work, natch, and would far prefer it if I didn't have to be in that soul-destroying atmosphere, it does make the weekend much more special than it was when I didn't have a regular job. It's like you wouldn't appreciate beautiful weather if you didn't have the crappy weather to compare it to.
I'm especially relaxed today because I'm not going to the darkroom today, though I need to do Fran's headshots and I only have one day's work left to finally finish (and bill) Michelle and Marq's wedding, but I also have a bunch of online obligations to fulfill, like finishing my crits and getting in my diarist.net award finalist nominations, not to mention the fact that it's my friend Deb's bridal shower tonight and I need to get her a prezzie. And since Michelle is throwing the shower, I think she'll forgive me for having to wait a little longer for her prints. The invitation said, after saying that Deb and Richard have been together for seven years, so they don't need any appliances:
Some suggestions: Aromatherapy items, scented candles, bathbeads and lotions, gift-certificates for a manicure or a massage, a good book (not about child-rearing or relationships), a sensual nightgown that is not aimed at pleasing a man, meditation items, etc." Yeah, me neither.
I'm probably the last person to realize this, as I'm behind on reading journals, but I must say that this looks like the most fun thing in the whole world. And I don't even like that sort of thing! Cynthia and my friend Wende both perform at Murder Mysteries, where people pay to witness and play along (at one recently, an audience member completely changed the entire plot by disarming the murdered and refusing to let her near the murder-ee, as the character he was given was that of her bodyguard!), my friends Bart and Gary performed in Grandma Sylvie's Funeral, an Off-Broadway version of something similar, until their brains leaked out of their ears, and my friend Judy was one of the original writer-performers in Tony and Tina's Wedding, still running strong after ten years. You couldn't drag me to any of those things if you put a gun in my mouth. But Dawn and Dario's game looks like something that I'd really get a kick out of, I guess because she writes about it with such joy. With them in charge, it would have to be fun!
