This system update at work is for the damn birds.
We keep finding all of these massively bad and wrong things with it, errors they have made in the scripts, hideous changes that make things just more dreadful.
Everything is in a different order, not to make things easier, but I guess just to make things different (it's a system upgrade! There must be differences!) which slows us down, we can no longer get a check edit list before cutting checks (which we need in order to balance) when it is actually in their instructions to print it out before printing the checks, everything that was removed from the system is now appearing on the list that we choose the payments from, and the space inbetween the voucher number and the date on the checks have disappeared.
That last one may not sound so dreadful, but trust me, it makes matching the checks dreadful because rather than it saying VO0330956 10/06/99, it says VO033095610/06/99. Or rather VO033095610/06/99. Or, on a longer check:

You try to match those fuckers. I was ready to claw my eyes out.
What I don't understand, though, is that we waited for the upgrade to be free, it's been out for months, and they are being surprised by these problems and promising us patches,etc. Are we their only customer? Are we the only company chowder-headed enough to have bought the useless thing?
I got a pile of email yesterday about Lucky and his snit, all saying "He liiiikes you! That's why he acted jealous of you talking to the other fella!"
To which I can only say, you are insane. He's about five inches shorter than me, there's no way in hell he'd have a crush on me. I look like a monster next to him.
I don't know why this is so, Lord knows I learned the alphabet long enough ago, but I am continually surprised by the fact that V comes before W.
Doesn't seem right somehow.
