13 October Can't do cheating entries two days in a row, so here comes some interesting stuff. One hopes!
So on Monday morning I went to the dentist (o we're rollin' now!)to get my loose fillings replaced. Before I got the shot, I mentioned my very high resistance to Novocaine, so he gave me a Super Duper shot to start with. As I waited for it to kick in, I started shaking all over--I pointed it out to him, and he told me that it was the shot, that Novocaine has adrenaline in it. I said that I didn't think that I was suddenly shaking with terror. He only did two, saving the other two for another time, which is all very well and good, but for the fact that he didn't actually choose the side with the sore tooth on it. Once it was over, I asked when I could eat, because I hadn't had breakfast, and he said not for five or six hours, because I had had the Big Shot. I couldn't figure out why I had to wait for the shot to wear off, and then I realized that you could chew through your cheek and really hurt yourself without realizing it! I ate after four hours. I live dangerously.
After work, I went to Virgin to buy a $2 blank tape, so I naturally spent $40. How did you accomplish that, I hear you ask. The DVD Fairy got me again. I swear, I cannot actually walk into that store without buying a DVD, a problem that I don't have with the downtown store. Maybe it's the layout. Anyway, I got Labyrinth, a film that's been going through my head for months now, and I promised myself that the second that it came out on DVD, I would snatch it up. So I did! I also got a small lunchbox purse with a Yellow Submarine design on it. It's terrible cute. Perhaps my Indian name should be She Who Has Many Cute Purses?
I went home and watched Labyrinth right away. It's not the greatest movie ever made, but it has so many memorable moments and lines and images that I simply cannot get out of my mind. And David Bowie was born to play the Goblin King. I'm certain that I'm the last person to notice this, but Labyrinth is a basically The Wizard of Oz all over again. A girl is unhappy at home, wishes things to be different, gets her wish and immediately sets out on a quest to reverse it, going on a journey along a very specific road to a castle and the man living there, while a bad person tries to foil her, and along the way meeting three traveling companions. And at the end discovering that the power to reverse the wish is inside of her. The only real difference is that the person she is going to see and the person trying to stop her are one and the same in Labyrinth, David Bowie playing both the Wizard and the Wicked Witch of the West. Appropriate.
"Give me the child."
So, after this entry of Columbine's I finally got off my duff and made me a Nibelung ring. It's a really fab little dealy, both an easier way to ring than Webring (though not set up for members changing their own info, so not good for huge rings like Open Pages) and what it's mostly being used for just now, which is a really handy way of organizing your links list. I never had a public list before, because I never wanted to leave people off, but this thing is as fun as Imagine Radio. If you want to see mine, it's here, and realize that that isn't everything I read, no-one with a notify list is there, for instance.
