6 October So, last night was Buffy night! I left work at 6.30p specifically so that I could get home in time for the premiere, my heart stood still when I saw the long line and no vans at the parking lot, but got home with time to spare. And the premiere? Wasn't wild about it, myself. The first 45 minutes were about Buffy feeling all at sea and confused at college, and I know that you can't have a hero who is always perfect, but this stumbling, weak-assed Buffy was a drag. I loved Sunday, the Head Evil Vampire Gang Girl, who was ultimate cool, and I was very sorry to see her dusted. On my Buffy mailing list someone mentioned what a nice girlfriend she would have made for Spike! But once Xander came back, the episode got better, and she was all normal at the end so I don't fear that the entire season will be about Pathetic Buffy. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Angel, which I didn't expect at all. I mean, I thought that I'd like it, but it never occurred to me that I'd like it better than Buffy, even if it's only one episode. Loved Cordy's confrontation with the vampire guy, "No mirrors, lots of curtains...Hey! You're a vampire!" "...Am not!" "Are so!" and Angel jumping snazzily into what turned out to be the wrong car just as I was thinking "Why do they always leap into convertibles like Magnum PI on these shows?"
Did anyone else notice how Buffy and Willow essentially traded hairstyles as well as personalities? Buffy had the long straight one-length cut and Willow had the short, snappy layered do. Which made her look less like Willow and alot more like Aly, the actress playing Willow, who generally looks so different from Will that the first time I saw her on a talk show I didn't have the foggiest idea who she was! I think I want that haircut. I've been thinking of doing the chop thing, as I'm kinda over my hair, but I didn't really know what I wanted. I've gotta get a new-haircut picture of Willow to show Penny at Xmas--she'll know whether it would suit me.
You know, I can't think of a single thing to write about that doesn't include Buffy. Plus, I want to get to work early today. Ummm...go read Dawn instead. This is a truly great journal, and if you don't read her already you are hopelessly uncool. But this can be rectified! Join us, leave your fields to flower...
