(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

4 October

I'm lying in bed, listening to the rain outside my window, dreading having to drag my snotty-nosed carcass out in it, but I don't think I'm sick enough to not do so.

Wait, I just decided that I am. I called in. What a relief! Honestly, though, I don't think that I can bear another day in bed, as I just start aching and my butt hurts and my feet fall asleep and I hate it. But it's better than going in the rain to work and trying to think with all this cotton in my head.

Of course, I'd have slept longer had I known that I wasn't coming in, but you can't have everything. I'm not omnipotent!

So yesterday I did leave the house to go to Gregg David's rehearsal, as he had no shame about sounding terribly pathetic and needy on the phone. Especially not when he's opening on Thursday.

So I went in and watched the run and took notes, and my little student sounded very nice, but for a few sounds that were too short, and Mary Eileen sounded much more real and not at all like a Comic Irish Washerwoman anymore, and the girl whom I told to speak louder and support the sound and the accent would be there proved me right.

But the main problem was the other actor that I was supposed to work with, who spent a week not calling me and another week calling me at work when I wasn't there, and we never got together because he is this big giant flake.

So I grabbed him by the ear after rehearsal and did what I could, but I have no idea how much will take, probably none. He would say a line, I would correct the sounds, he would repeat the sounds back to me correctly, then say the line again exactly as he said it the first time.

Ah well, I did my best. Remember, I'm not omnipotent!

This entry of Jette's made me laugh, because of the song that has been stuck in my head all week.

Actually, it's two songs, the first is the Good Morning song from my beloved Bear in the Big Blue House "Good morning, good morning, good morning from the sun; Good morning, good morning, good morning everyone!" which is a duet between Bear and Geoffrey Holder as Ray, the sun. The perfect voice.

But anyway, the other song that I've been singing is from the SNL 25th Anniversary show, though of course I had seen it before. It was from the first cast, and Peter Cook was the host and he was doing a production of Gigi at a prison and having the prisoners come in and audition, and Garrett's audition song went:

"I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the Whiteys I see,
I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the Whiteys I see,
When I kill all the Whiteys I see, then Whitey he won't bother meeeeeeee...
I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the Whiteys I see!"

A weird song to find oneself singing on the street, particularly when one is, in point of fact, a Whitey.

Of course, at 10a when I would have left the house, the rain, the reason that I am still in my bed, was over. Ah well, my bad.
