(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

23 November

It's been heavily foggy the past couple of days.

Some people think that fog is beautiful, mysterious, exciting, Dickensian--me, I think it's asthma on a stick.

God, I am intensely, intensely, intensely sleepy.

Yesterday I worked until 9p (and I mean worked until 9p, as I was alone in the department) and then had rehearsal until 11p, got home at 11.30p, sleep at 2a, up at 7a because I don't know if The Raccoon will be out again today, and I want to be in early just in case, what with it being a short week and all.

Well, up at 7.45a after hitting snooze five times. Didn't help. I'm still just about ready to fall over like a tree.

On one of my mailing lists, we're giving our desert island books, and since I am an inveterate recycler, here are mine:

Watership Down by Richard Adams
Dune by Frank Herbert
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books (all in one volume) by Douglas Adams
The Dark is Rising Sequence (all in one volume) by Susan Cooper
Operating Instructions by Anne Lamott
Time and Again by Jack Finney
Fire and Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones
Due to Lack of Interest Tomorrow Has Been Canceled by Irene Kampen
Bridget Jones' Diary by Helen Fielding
Heartburn by Nora Ephron

And to prove either my unwavering loyalty or my unending dullness, the first three items have been on my list since high school. In fact, only Operating Instructions, Bridget Jones' Diary and Time and Again did I discover more recently than fifteen years ago.

We're very proud here in the Callahan household, what with our Katie being on the front page of the local paper this week because she played Hermione in the school's Harry Potter play and all.

Can you tell exactly how small a town I really live in? When the sixth grade play is front page news...

After seeing Garth Brooks do this Chris Gaines nonsense for the past month or two, not to mention seeing him on the Tonight Show again last night emphasizing that it's going to be a character in a movie and how he was thrilled to have gotten the opportunity to do it and blah blah blah...

If there actually ever is a Chris Gaines movie I'll eat my hat.

Today's horoscope:
Feelings and interactions with colleagues are more important today. You may meet a future partner through your job.

One year ago today:
"O, aren't you just the funniest man in the world!"
