15 November
So I spent yesterday in bed.
I didn't really mean to, I meant to go to work for a few hours, but by the time I finished talking to my Mom and wrote yesterday's entry, it was kind of dark out, so I just decided to remain in bed, watching Comedy Central and answering my crits.
Yes, it was crit week for me again, and I got some good ones, though not enough. If you go up nearer the end of the semester than the beginning, people are tired and lazy and busy and don't feel like it, so you get them on the catch-up week. I, of course, have been doing half of my crits on the catch-up weeks from the get-go so I guess that you just reap what you sow.
I'll excerpt them later this week.

Anyone else freaked out by that Mercedes commercial where staring, blank faced people talk in chorus about safety inroads that Mercedes has made over the years? The little kids at the beginning are so Midwich Cuckoos, so Children of the Corn, so scary little Shining girls. Should you be frightened of the product? Is that clever marketing?
"Buy a Mercedes...BUY A MERCEDES...when I snap my fingers, you will awaken and immediately go out and buy a Mercedes!!"
On the other hand, the "The Circus Elephant has lost its way" BMW commercial makes me laugh until I get an asthma attack.
And I'm wondering why those Barnesandnoble.com commercials with the authors coming to the houses with the books showcase the most repellent personalities living, Emeril Lagasie and John Gray. Are they trying to drive people away? The threat of John Gray actually showing up on my doorstep is definitely enough to make me want to stick with
Amazon!
O, and that Nike commercial with people showing their giant revolting scars while the song "You Are So Beautiful" plays definitely makes me want to avoid Nikes at all costs.
"Buy Nikes and get a two foot long groove down your leg!"
O, that's okay, no thanks.

In re Iron Chef, how the hell long has this show been on, anyway? 'Cause ol' Scary-Ass Chairman Kaga looks about 10 years older in the episodes than he does in the opening bit where he's biting that yellow pepper.
And one can only assume that he chooses his outfits himself...

Did you know that trombones have valves? I didn't know that trombones have valves! I went to Interlochen! My first boyfriend was a trombonist! Since when do trombones have valves?
Perhaps I seem to be over-reacting, but I thought I knew what a trombone was and now it seems it's been holding out on me. I feel so betrayed...

Today's horoscope:
Don't make your job today into a struggle between concentrated focus and carefree versatility. Allocate time and space for both.
One year ago today:
Besides, I've had a flu shot, goddammit, I'm supposed to be an illness-free zone.
