Do you want to know what it's like to be me?
Well, Monday night I was at work and I had more work to do that needed to be done by yesterday morning, but I was all tired and stuff so I thought I'd go home and come in early in the morning.
"I know!" I thought, "I'll get up at 6a and get in at 8a and surprise everyone and do a bunch of work before The Raccoon comes in!"
I don't know why this loony idea popped out of my head fully-formed like Athena from the brow of Zeus, but I think I just wanted to see whether I could do it or not, kind of like a challenge.
Well, turns out I could!
It would have helped had I gone to bed before 1a, but I did manage to get up at 6.35, after a few whaps on the snoozebar, and got out the door and made it to work before the whole department. Before the whole floor, practically.
And yes, everyone was shocked as shit and asked if I had spent the night and it was all very fun, though I practically fell asleep at 11.30a and again around 3p, but it was just for the once, so it was pretty fun.
Then I got a call from Cynthia asking me if I could possibly come home early tomorrow to take Molly off the bus, because they don't let three-year-olds off the bus unless a parent or guardian physically takes them off, and she's working on Law and Order, Fran is already taking a half day on Friday and can't take another one, and Katie has something to do that she had neglected to tell Cynthia about, i.e. the custodial parent.
So, if I'm leaving work at 3.30p tomorrow and I want to get a reasonable day's work in beforehand, I need to get in at 8a! After doing it just for fun for the first time in my life, I suddenly have to do it again! This is waaaaay too much like a straight job...

I don't know about you, but I think that
this is a scream, and I think it should be nominated next round!

Late breaking news!
Fran just told me that he was able to get a half day off and can come home and take care of his child after all. So I guess that's what it's really like to be me, riding that ragged edge of disaster and then being saved at the 11th hour!

You and the kids (or your inner child) can do lots today, so channel that energy and enthusiasm into constructive activities.
