(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

8 November

So anyway, back to the Great Meeting of the Ki(y)m(m)s.

It's been awhile since I've hung out with a girl named Kim, so it took me a minute to decide that whenever anyone but Kim said "Kim!", I would ignore it, but then sometimes they did mean me!

Very confusing.

Anyway, I went to the Plaza and was looking around for a giant man and a small woman, and then I heard my name, and she was standing on a wall and was just his size, so he didn't look so tall.

So there she was, Kim Rollins, one of the two journallers that I still most wanted to meet (the other being Pamie--hey Pamie, come to NY for God's sake, I doubt I'm coming to Austin anytime soon!). She's so delicate and fine-boned and translucent-skinned and porcelain-like that you think she's a fairy princess, until she opens her mouth, that is.

Dennis is great, too, very friendly and comfortable and gives the best bear hugs in the whole world, and Dennis' brother and his brother's friend were nice as well, but I didn't talk much to them. I'm bad enough at meeting two new people (though Kim wasn't really new) let alone four!

Kim and I were comparing our respective deafness. I'm just generally slightly hard of hearing, Kim is partially deaf in one ear, and there were various comic "What?"s and "I got everything in that phrase but the actual point!"s until Kim remarked that now she understood why people got frustrated talking to her sometimes, "Deaf people are annoying!"

We walked through the park for a bit, then decided to go to a museum.

The Met was mentioned, but I whined "I hate The Met! Let's go to MoMA!" so we did. And no, I don't hate all of The Met, only half of it, but I love all of MoMA.

MoMA is having a Millennial Show (who isn't?), and the first two parts, People and Places are open. They were both wonderful, with interesting juxtapositions, paintings that I have never seen in my life before, and new insights to painters. Did you know that Edvard Munch has painted a whole lot of other great stuff besides The Scream? And I fell in love with a Picasso of a bather catching a beach ball that was just so funny that I laughed out loud.

It was really great, but I was crippled by the end. What is it about museum floors that make me just want to chop my feet off, 'cause that couldn't possibly hurt as much?

Then we walked back to 42nd St, just chatting up a storm. It was such a beautiful day, well, evening at that point, I was out without a coat and everything, it didn't feel a thing like November.

We stopped at a giant makeup store and Kim got glitter on her face. I took some pictures, but I don't know if the glitter will show up. We kept losing half the group and thinking that they were miles behind us, and then there they suddenly were. I know that these are just flashes of moments, but suddenly I am not feeling eloquent. Maybe because I was so tired at this point of the day, maybe because I'm trying to write this quickly when I have to leave the house and I haven't showered yet.

I guess all I can say is that meeting Kim Rollins is a great way to spend a weekend and I recommend it to anyone. They promised to come back next year for more than just a weekend, and I for one can't wait!

And now that I have written about Saturday at length, I have no time to write about yesterday! I will say this, though, I fucking finished Marq and Michelle's wedding!! Hooray!
