3 November
Worked until 11p last night. Ugh. But Tuesday is the end of my pay period and if I do anything, I work all of my overtime, and I had done only two hours this week, so I needed to do the other three hours all at once.
But Kymm, I hear you cry, if you worked eleven hours until eleven o'clock, wouldn't that mean that you got to work at noon?
Well, it was my understanding that there would be no math, but yes, I sauntered in at ten past twelve like a dork. I was lying in bed, and I was awake before the alarm had rung, but I felt all rested and stuff, so I thought "Hey, I've slept enough, I'll get up before the alarm like the righteous upstanding person that I am," turned over, and saw that it was 10.15a.
That well-rested feeling was thus explained...

The other day when I was waiting for the van, the woman sitting next to me kept giving me the eye, as I vaguely noticed as I was reading, until she finally spoke.
"Excuse me, is that
The Phantom Tollbooth?"
"Why yes, it is!"
"I think I remember reading that book when I was a kid."
"It's one of the greatest children's books every written!"
"Wait, no, I didn't read the book, I saw the show. There were lots of letters flying around I think."
(at this point the van had arrived)
"Yes, there was a TV movie and half of it was animated by Chuck Jones."
"That's it! Was there a little boy?"
"Yes, Milo, and Tock the Watchdog and the Humbug and they travel to Dictionopolis to see King Azaz and to Digitopolis to see The Mathemagician, and they rescue Rhyme and Reason from the Castle in the Air."
"Is it the kind of book that you can read as an adult, or is it only for kids?"
"It totally works for an adult, everything has another meaning that you don't get when you're a kid. Because it's really all about learning and paying attention and keeping your mind and your eyes open."
"I really want to read it!"
"Go to the bookstore, today!"
"Do you know, I think I will!"
Norman Juster owes me a royalty.

To anyone who would call Beth unattractive, you're blind as a mole. I've seen her in person and she is absolutely lovely. So go play in traffic. At night. In black clothes. While fucking yourself.
