Whoa, wait, where am I? (checks location bar) Well, that's Kymm's URL, and it says The Mighty Kymm in the title graphic, but it doesn't look like home to me!
No, my sweet and only loves, this is me still in spirit, but
Michael decided to give me a facelift. It's nice to have something different, and I absolutely love it, though it may take me awhile to get used to it, let alone you!

So yesterday was Deb and Richard's wedding, and I don't think I was the only one who was thrilled to have that extra hour of sleep when we changed the clocks. Those noon weddings are a killer, let me tell you.
This is the first wedding I have been to in years that I haven't actually worked, and I thought that that would be fun, but actually I was uncomfortable and a little bored at times! I mean, I took my camera, but only two rolls of film because if I had taken more I would have, well, taken more, and I didn't want to do a whole wedding shoot when it was for free.
It was interesting, though, how many professional-looking photographers were there! I counted four, and it took me a little while to figure out which one was the official one! I felt for a second that maybe they wouldn't need me to shoot, but then I realized that I was probably the only one shooting black and white, and no matter how wonderful the others were, I am the only one that has my eye, and Deb and Richard like my eye, so a picture or two will make a fine wedding present. Not to mention good for my portfolio.

The wedding took place at this gorgeous loft space on the East side, everything was white and cream and blonde wood and high ceilings and giant windows. That nicely backlit the ceremony, which made it difficult for the photographer, but that wasn't my business. But that is why I chose a corner seat for the ceremony rather than an aisle!
The only real problem with the place was a guy who was in charge, who seemed to be very upset that people were there at all, wandering around with a disapproving look in his eye, clearly expecting vandalism at every turn.
At one point, he came up to me where I was sitting on one of the little sofas with my legs tucked underneath me, and told me to get my shoes off the sofa, I apologized and did so, and he gave me the most disgusted look. I felt bad, then it dawned on me that not only was this the sofa that the two toddlers present had sat on for rather a while (and you know what that means) , but that it was slip-covered and would be laundered before the next event!
He also, when he decided that he was ready for us to go, snapped off the music and flipped on the lights to full leaving us blinking like moles--like it was a bar at 3a and last call was an hour ago. I expected him to start yelling "Have you no homes to go to?"
What a creep.

The ceremony was lovely.
First, Deb and Richard's son, Paul, was removed, yelling, as I called after him "By the time you come back, Mommy and Daddy will be married!" then, quietly to my nearest neighbours "And you'll be legitimate!" leading to much strangled laughter in my immediate vicinity as the ceremony began.
Richard walked in with Paul, still yelling, which lead to the lovely sight of the bridegroom cuddling his child at the altar, then the rest of the small wedding party, and then Deb, gorgeous and holding an autumn bouquet of a sheaf of sunflowers. As she walked down the aisle, Paul suddenly called out "Mama!" and everyone was laughing as Deb joined Richard at the altar.
Which was also the moment, she told me afterwards, when she realized that she had forgotten his ring.
At the shower, Deb had complained that she had spent two days agonizing over her vows and Richard had dashed his off in ten minutes, and how annoyed she was. His vows basically promised to love her and be faithful to her and honour her and be honest with her, and "From this moment on I promise faithfully that I will always call if I'm going to be late!" which got a huge laugh and proved that it may have been ten minutes, but they were ten well-spent minutes.
The rest of the ceremony went off without a hitch, but for the ring thing, which I didn't actually notice, but apparently she wed Richard by placing her engagement ring on his finger. Reminds me of the pinkie ring in
Moonstruck!
