19 March My God, it has been beautiful the past couple of days. Really, unbearably so. I actually took lunch on Wednesday, and could barely drag myself back inside afterwards. It's Spring! Spring spring spring!! Of course, the weather says that it will have lows in the 20's and 30's for the next few days, so it was really just a horrid tease.
We had tech for the show last night, which was pretty darn swell. Our first audience, consisting of the actors in the other shows, laughed in most of the expected places, but there were some gasps too, which was really fun. Yeah, we're kickin' out the jams on this one.
And then, when I got home, I got two hugely cool things in the mail! First was a present from Brittly, who sent me Prickles, the hedgehog Beany Baby! She is so cute! And she goes with the hedgehog keychain and the hedgehog pin and the two beheaded woodchuck refrigerator magnets that I cannot actually put on my refrigerator, because Baldrick knocks them off and gnaws on them. I showed her to Cynthia and Fran, the latter of whom kept saying "Are you sure it's not an armadillo?" and I said "How many armadillos would be named Prickles? It's a hedgehog for Christ's sake!!" and Cynthia said, "See honey, just like she's being one now!" It's funny, but when I decided to do a webpage, I never realized that one of the advantages would be that folks would be sending me cool stuff!
The other cool thing I got was from Amy, who sent me a copy of a test that she gave her freshman students. What's so cool about that? I was on the test!!! No, really! It was a research paper quiz and there were several bits of reading they were supposed to use, a couple of magazine articles, part of the book Karen by Marie Killilea (I love that book!), and MEEEE! This entry, to be exact. Is that not just so incredibly boss? Perhaps students will start hating me as a matter of course, just like they do Ivanhoe!
There was a four-year-old who does Shakespeare on Leno last night. That's how they kept hyping him, "Elijah Runhorn, a four-year-old who does Shakespeare!" Notice that he was not billed as the four-year-old who does Shakespeare well. I don't find a four-year-old human tape recorder, stuffed with Shakespeare like you would stuff a goose, particularly impressive.
