10 March Nik and I are making plans again, which always leads to disaster, but I have hopes this time. We are actually, seemingly, apparently going to Philadelphia at last in April, when he is on spring break and has already taken the time off work in order to go to Miami, Niagara Falls, Long Island, and, now, Philadelphia for a few days with me! I will, of course, only come even close to believing it when I see that Liberty Bell, but it's nice that we're still trying...
Some really neat news! Remember the cd that that Little Criminals, the online Randy Newman fan club mailing list I belong to, are making? I recorded a song with Nik and then a second song with another group member, Joan, but when all of the submissions came in and were timed, it was 14 minutes too long. Well yesterday the good news came down that both of my songs made the cut! Not only that, but Randy himself has contributed a track! It's his demo of "That'll Do", his Oscar nominated song from the Babe sequel, and, since Peter Gabriel sings it in the movie, Randy's own vocal is an unreleased track! I'll let you guys know when the orders are being compiled, just in case anyone wants one. And don't worry, unlike other things, I'll not pout if no-one wants one, but since we will only be doing this once, I want people to have the opportunity to get one, if they like.
Okay, what is up with toothbrushes these days? Most people have ceramic or metal built-in toothbrush holders in their bathroom, don't they? I mean, pretty much for the past forever, the holes in the toothbrush holders where you put the toothbrushes have remained the same size, right? So how come, all of a sudden, toothbrushes are being made with these big fat handles that don't fit in the holders? Don't the manufacturers care how hard it is to replace a built-in toothbrush holder? And maybe it's just me, but I just don't happen to think that toothbrushes should be as wide around as your average vibrator.
Alright, I think that everyone who wants to trade mix tapes with me have spoken up at this point, but I'll do this for one more day: Wanna?
