16 January Remember yesterday when I said that I was really happy that I have a Zip drive, 'cause it would make moving stuff onto my new computer so much easier? Ha ha ho. Unfortunately, in order to install the Zip drive in the first place, you need to have both the A drive and the Zip drive working simultaneously, and I only have one parallel port, and the A drive is external, and... Anyway, I spent hours last night moving Eudora onto the new machine 1.44 megs at a time.
Work was exhausting, too. The Raccoon was out again, and I got about a zillion calls from sales reps begging for their money, so I made it my mission to enter every expense report that I could find. By the time I was done it was 9p, so Nik and I staggered, glassy-eyed out into the night. We were going down in the elevator with Rosemary, who said "It's Friday night! You're young! I can't believe that you're just going home!" So we walked to the van and Nik said "Do you want to go get some stale donuts?" so we went to Dunkin' Donuts and I had a chocolate raised and a coke and he had an old fashioned and a bowtie and some milk, and they really weren't as stale as usual, and we sat and talked for an hour. Do you think that's what Rosemary meant for us to do?
So, Nik and I aren't going out of town again. Last week he mentioned that David and Tea wanted to go to Philadelphia to see a show at a museum, and why didn't the four of us go for the weekend, but yesterday he said that the show was over and now they didn't want to go. It was so close, too. This time I thought we'd really make it. Well, he knows how much I wanted to go and how disappointed I am, so if he wants to go somewhere sometime, he's just going to damn well have to ask me.
I don't know about you, but every single time I see that Visa commercial about the little girl who wants an elephant, I burst into tears. The only part I don't like is her with the zebra at the end. What about the poor elephant? Rotten little brat. But wishes are like elephants, they're bigger than can be...
