I hate winter. I hate snow. Three Michigan winters at an impressionable age will do that to a person. Nik, even after working on an Alaskan fishing boat, loonily loves the snow.
"But don't you think it's beautiful?"
"Yes, for about five seconds, then it's three months of slush and ice."
"But aren't those five seconds worth it?"
"No."
Today it snowed about three flakes, but all three fell on my head. We're supposed to get a couple of inches tonight. Blech.
I believe I said something yesterday about definitely getting a space heater. Right away. No kidding.
A tip for those of you intent upon buying a space heater. It is easier if you leave work before 8p, as hardware stores kinda close before then. Well, I didn't think of that!
Anhedonia has an under the desk heater that I covet achingly. I will probably get one of those, too. Really soon!!
So, since I couldn't buy a space heater, I bought a computer instead!
No, I did, actually! You see, a couple of months ago I was seized with the desperate need to get a new computer, a laptop, so I went to the Gateway site and saw just the most perfectest laptop in all the land and decided to try for a loan
"Yeah, right," I thought, "Like they'll give me a loan! Ho ho ho!" But they clearly didn't check my credit rating, because they gave it to me! They called, saying that I would be receiving a packet in the mail, but I never did and then I sort of forgot about it.
Well, yesterday I sort of remembered it again, so I rang and asked if I should re-apply or something (I could never be that lucky twice!), and the guy put me on hold and called the bank, then came back and said:
"Your loan was approved! Alright, what computer did you want?"
So I ordered it right that very little minute! Of course, I had stupidly only applied for a loan for the exact amount of the computer, so I had to put the tax on a credit card that somehow, magically had enough room on it.
So, according to Gateway, by 20 January I will be the proud owner of a beautiful laptop with a full-sized keyboard and 4 gigs and 64 megs of ram and a DVD drive! Hooray!
Of course, judging by my last encounter with Gateway, I probably won't lay eyes on the thing before Valentine's Day, but hooray nonetheless!
I have decided, after seeing way too many of those MCI commercials with Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes characters, that nothing is worse than voices dying and being replaced.
The guy who does Bugs/Tweety etc, who is, I believe, Mel Blanc's son, is far more horrible than the guy who replaced Jim Henson, but honestly I think that the characters should have been retired.
Kermit without Jim isn't Kermit, Bugs without Mel is a travesty.

O, wait, one more thing!
Thanks to the two extremely bright-eyed readers, Michael and Donna, for practically simultaneously noticing that the "not" was left out of my logo, something that I honestly hadn't noticed!
It's people like them that make it possible for me to be as bone idle as I tend to be.
