(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

22 February

So yesterday I started my new show.

Have I mentioned my new show? Ah, I know that I haven't. It's this hilarious farce called Naked Ambition, and, well, it's full of naked people!

The last time I directed a naked play it was this really horrible piece of dreck called Bargain Basement that was fifteen minutes of appalling blank verse that was almost impossible to cast, so this time I'm blessed with a wonderful script with a great cast and all of the people who were first cast, accepted!

So, since Cynthia and Fran are all nakedly in the show, we rehearsed at the house, up in the attic after parking Molly in front of the box, read it through, and everyone was swell. It's going to be a bitch to stage, because it's farce, which is dependent on crackerjack timing, but if we do it right it will rock the house.

We're first in the evening, so that we can fling the children at someone for fifteen minutes, do the show, and grab them again before they annoy anyone to distraction, but that means that the other shows will unfortunately have to follow our nakedness and general hilarity!

Poor things...

After that we trundled into town for Baby Paul's first birthday party.

Baby Paul is Deb and Richard's baby, who was born a few weeks before Bonnie, and their parents cleverly decided to have the party at the bar on Sunday afternoon, so everyone was there!

It was Kiddie Central, too, between Paul, Molly, Bonnie and Marq and Michelle's Logan Reilly, who's nineteen months. I felt sorry for the waitrons having to leapt over babies and balloons every time they took plates back to the kitchen. Both Paul and Logan Reilly appear to have gotten the impression that traffic is the place to play, and they both sprinted towards the front door every time anyone's back was turned. Neither Molly nor Bonnie threw a fit, so the afternoon went well.

Bart, Sharon's ex was there, and this was the first time that I had seen them in the same room since the Hideous Break Up, which was great fun, because he is one of those guys that is always surrounded by a circle of giggling girls (some of them usually rather disinclined towards giggling!), and the glacial wall emanating from her was actually visible.

Richard Kent Green was there, too, another charm machine, so the pheromone level of the room was a little high for my taste. My glasses kept fogging over.

Then, when it was time to leave, we noticed that it was, well, blizzing!

It was snowing and blowy and we had parked simply miles away. What is up with this weather thing? It's spring and then it's, well, not. Of course, it's still winter, February is winter, but there are these teasingly beautiful days, and then, a blizzard!

No more no more no more...grass and dirt and sun and butterflies...dammit!

Okay, Cracker Jack prizes have gone so downhill so as to be almost Dada.

This is the prize from my Cracker Jacks yesterday. It was a flat piece of shiny, slightly stiff paper that said "Hoppin' Hog" on it, along with a drawing of a tusked boar.

The instructions for said piece of paper says:
"Carefully tear out the prize. Place it between your thumb and index finger. Gently pinch together to force the prize to bend...let go and watch as it flies out of your hand. Flick it into a cup. Flick it to make decisions. Who can flick it farther, you or a friend?"

I think possibly the worst job I can think of in my life is that of the guy who is given this piece of paper and told that this is the new prize for Cracker Jacks, and to make it sound exciting!
