(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

14 February

Before anyone asks, yesterday was much better than the day before.

I was upset for most of the day, but then I told the story about why I was so depressed to Cynthia, and in telling it I started laughing at myself, and so I felt better.

Whenever I don't take myself so seriously, I can't be so sad, While You Were Sleeping or no While You Were Sleeping. Not even mentioning all of the nice e-mail that I got from you people, and all of the subscriptions to my rarely pimped mailing list.

Although the person who subscribed then unsubscribed two minutes later did make me VERY SAD! What did I do in those two minutes, when I wasn't even home? Must have been the atmosphere.

And the person with the nickname Sniffs at an isp starting with the letter "a", everything is bouncing from you (including the automatic welcome message) so I think that you might have your return address wrong in your settings!

I couldn't bear my roots anymore yesterday, so I dyed my hair, even though I did not have any black dye. So I just used the leftover red dye (I still have tons) and hoped that I wouldn't end up having this big stripe.

But it looks really good! The hair is still black, of course, but with this halo of red. I don't know if I'll dye it black next time or keep it this way!

I also did the laundry, the dishes and bought groceries, so that was a pretty diligent day, especially since I was also felled with depression for half of the day.

Nik and I had our regular Saturday night outing, natch, though when I was so upset I almost called him and said that I really wasn't that interested in seeing him, but that smacked too much of cutting off noses, so I decided against it.

When we spoke I suggested Blast From the Past, which he didn't much want to see, and he's not ready to re-see Shakespeare in Love (for me, if I want to see a movie again, I'm ready to see it as soon as the first viewing is over!), so I suggested something that we had talked about a long time ago. There's Something About Mary.

We were just about the last two people in America who hadn't seen it. I just plain didn't want to see it, but after so many months, my resistance was worn down, and Nik mentioned it a couple of months ago when it went to the $3 theatre. Well, it was still there.

So we went. And I liked it. It really was very funny, and, in terms of the script and the plot, it was more intelligent than it looked, and everything came together rather cleverly.

And the whole "Build Me Up, Buttercup" thing at the end was specifically to make the audience leave the theatre all happy and smiling and forget anything that they didn't particularly like. It sure worked on me! I remember not laughing at things that everyone else was pissing themselves over, but not anything specific.

Afterwards, we went to dinner at 1a, to Barrymore's, since I know most of the waitstaff from Love Creek, but none of them were there, of course. And we really had a wonderful time.

Nothing was resolved, of course, but we really had a wonderful time.

Happy Valentines Day!
