(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

23 August

Happy birthday to me
Happy birthday to me
Happy birthday dear me
Happy birthday to MEEEEEE!

To prove exactly how damn old 35 is, I couldn't even stay up until midnight, counting down to my birthday like on New Years Eve, but was falling apart at 10.30p!

Of course, I only got 5 hours of sleep the night before, so that may have had more to do with it than the fact that I was tipping over the hill, but still it was bad timing!

So, on Saturday night, I got an email from my friend Michelle telling me that "the box office for "Salesman" opens at 10am and they have a limited number of tickets something like 20 for $25." and I thought that I'd give it a shot.

Of course, I stayed up 'till 3a that night watching an episode of Inspector Morse that I had already seen, so could barely drag myself out of bed at 9a. But I did, and I got to the theatre at 10a only to find that Michelle was wrong, that the box office opened at noon, not 10a, and a lucky thing too, as I had a great position in line! However, since I didn't mean to have to wait so long I didn't wear a jacket or socks, and I practically froze!

Froze, in August in New York? Yep, it was a really chilly weekend, out of nowhere, might I add.

So I got my ticket, rushed home to write my entry, then rushed back to see the show. The things I do for you people.

The show was fantastic, natch. Brian Dennehy, Elizabeth Franz, Howard Witt as Charley, everyone was glorious. I was afraid that I would have hysterics, as I always do when I see this show, but I just sort of quietly wept from the moment the lights went down (I didn't even wait for the first line!).

I was in the last row in a little two seat section all on its own, sitting with this guy who shared my loathing for the annoying People on the Left who would talk or open things with Velcro, or, most annoyingly, rattle plastic bags seemingly for hours on end.

She sounded like she was knitting with them.

When the show was over, I leaned in to him and whispered "People who don't know how to behave at the theatre should just stay home!" We also expressed glee to be sitting next to another Good Theatre-Goer.

Fortunately, or maybe not, there was no cell phone action at this particular performance.

Then I came home and had birthday cake with the family and Molls gave me a painting she had made and then I did my party trick of putting her to bed after she had refused to go for her Mom and Dad.

Gotta go now, there's a parcel to pick up at the post office and a movie to see and dinner with friends to have, catch you later!
