(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

21 August

And welcome to Birthday Weekend!

I didn't get theatre tickets this year, though I meant to. I was going to get tickets for Death of a Salesman, but by the time I left it so long I thought why bother paying top price on what won't be the best seat, why not just take my chances with the TKTS half-price ticket booth!

I mean, it's August, aka Death For Theatre month, so there's a good chance it'll be up on the board, and if not there'll be something else interesting. Closer closes tonight, maybe I can see that tonight and Salesman tomorrow.

It's even raining! Who the hell wants to stand on line in the rain for Broadway tickets?

Yesterday was Day Two of my being in charge of my damn department. Do you think that there could have been a few more crises? Hundreds of phone calls, $100,000 worth of checks cut, getting us off credit hold, phone problems.

The worst bit was that I had to get up at 7a so that I could get to work at 9a (got several surprised emails about my updating at 7.30a!) worked until 7p, then could barely stagger home, I was so tired. And I brought work home, too, that I'll get to sometime Birthday Weekend. I went to bed at midnight, got up at 11.30a. Ahhh...

I know I'm spoiled, I know how many people do that every day and have kids to take care of as well, but I'm a delicate flower and I'm not used to it.

I called The Raccoon's voice mail and left the message "I don't like being you!" My only consolation is that I'm leaving her in December, and for two weeks, not just one!

Wow, you really are supposed to go out on a Friday night!

How do I know? 'Cause I got home a bit after 8p and there was nothing but loathsome unwatchable shows and movies on every single solitary channel. And I really mean unwatchable--there wasn't even something that I could leave on in the background while reading or surfing, everything was too distracting in its awfulness. Until 9.30p, when Under Siege came on Cinemax. 'Cause I just love that Steven Seagal.

Particularly the bits where he acts all chummy and relaxed and one-of-the-guys. Now that's acting!

Poor Shmuel was in an automobile accident last weekend, his grandfather was killed and his mother is in bad shape. Please remember him in your prayers.
