15 August So yesterday was The Great NY Journallers Get-Together. I was late, of course, because I am me and I had to braid my hair about 500 times, 'cause I kept leaving a piece of hair out and had to start all over again, and I was gathering the stuff I needed for the show. Now, a while back I had worked out how many journallers I had met, which was at the time, 21, and since then I met Melissa and Iko which brings the total up to 23. Now, with Columbine, Patrick, Dreama, Colleen, Felicia, Molly Zero, and Sara, that makes 30! The winnah and still champeen! Of course, since I could only stay for an hour and I really wanted to talk to Columbine as much as I could, I didn't actually meet any of them besides C and Dreama properly, which I'm sorry about. Plus, I was really in super-surface mode, which means that I was sort of flitting around and talking loudly and quippily, never settling and talking properly like a person. This was partially due to lack of time and partially due to too many new people in the room. The reading was fun though I didn't read particularly well. I didn't read badly, because after 32 years of acting that's not actually possible, but I chose this entry because it's my best one lately, but I didn't look it over beforehand and only one I had started reading did I realize that it's about 20 minutes long (at one point I thought "Jesus, there's a whole 'nother bus ride left!) so I sped up a bit more than I would have liked, and I don't think I was loud enough. Patrick read this entry, which I was so glad about as it's my fave rave. I've read it out loud to Cynthia and Tracing and can barely be restrained from reading it to strangers on the street. The best reader, I was surprised to note, was Tracing! Better than me and Patrick, the professional actors. She read loudly and clearly and expressively, and it's not as though I thought that she would read badly, but she didn't just read it, she acted it, and that was the surprising bit. Anyway, I had to rush to the show for closing night, and now I have to rush out to Brooklyn to see Tracing and Amanda, so I'm outta here. More tomorrow.
