1 August Out with the stars and in with the frogs! Brittly actually made this for me at the same time as she made the snowflake one back in December, but I put it aside and never used it. Last night I thought that maybe I want to do an August change but I had nothing to change to (why aren't people spontaneously sending me redesigns anymore? Is this toughlove to make me figure out how to do it myself?) and then I remembered that I had never used the frogs! Speaking of Brittly, if you hadn't heard, her father died unexpectedly recently and she's going through a dreadful time. The entries regarding this tragedy start here.
So yesterday's rehearsal went as well as can be expected. I am directing up a storm and giving bits and things to everyone but The Actor In Question, simply because he won't do anything I tell him to do. So I'm ignoring him. Childish, I know, but he's coming up with enough stuff for himself, and why put myself out when it won't actually happen? At this point, I just can't wait for the next two weeks to be over. Let me stress again, that the show will be very good and everyone will be good, especially The Actor In Question, but it's a miserable experience for me.
Something weird has happened to my laptop. It's been doing this thing for the past month where the screen flickers on and off when the cord is touched or the table moves or the screen is jostled or I breathe and I have to keep pressing "Fn LCD/CRT" (whatever that means) to get my screen back. Well, a couple of days ago my computer didn't automatically turn off after I shut down, but I didn't notice, so it was on all day. In my un-airconditioned apartment. On a day that hit 100º. So when I got home, I had to remove the battery to turn it off, as it was stuck, and then it wouldn't turn back on. I turned on my fan and pointed it at it for ten minutes, then turned it upside down to cool down the other side. After it cooled off, it would turn back on, and everything was fine, but I noticed that ever since I haven't had the problem with the screen! Overheating it to the point of crashing isn't exactly the best way to fix your computer, but hey, it worked for me!
Watching an old episode of Wheel of Fortune on the gloriousness that is The Game Show Network. You know, the really old ones where they had to buy prizes rather than get cash? I mean, it's a better game to win with the cash, but it was more fun to watch when they were forced to buy stupid stuff like ceramic dalmatians. It's fun to see the prices for things, too, and not because they were so much lower, either! Some things were astonishingly high, like a microwave oven at $650 when a regular stove was $500. My favourite, though, was a Commodore 64 computer with 64K memory for $2335! 64 whole K of memory, what will she do with all of that space!
