(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

29 April

So yesterday was Cynthia's birthday, so I came home (relatively) early from work so that I could sit for the kids while she and Fran went out.

And what were they doing for her birthday? Something spontaneous, meaning something that people with three kids rarely get a chance to do.

She just wanted to drive to Hoboken and wander around, spontaneously finding a place to eat a place to drink and a place to dance and just being all wild and carefree and all.

So they did that, and I stayed home with the kids. And the honeymoon is totally over where Bonnie is concerned, who no longer prefers me to all others. In fact, I am absolutely positively at the bottom of the list.

I held her and walked her and talked to her and sang to her and rocked her and cuddled her and fed her and she screamed and coughed and screamed and coughed and screamed and coughed and screamed. And cried for mama.

And waved bye-bye, which I thought was rather pointed.

I said to her, in a conversational tone, "I could wring your neck like a chicken, you know." Didn't faze her.

Then Katie took her and she stopped screaming immediately. Then I sent Katie up to bed, took Bonnie back again, and she immediately started screaming again. At this point I started to take it personally. Then she conked out.

Then I got my computer and watched DVDs.

I have decided that I shouldn't get any more DVDs until I watch all of the ones that I already have, so on Sunday I watched The Big Chill and last night I watched the "Making Of" movie and the deleted scenes that came with it.

The "Making Of" was great, and the deleted scenes were terrific, except that there was one deleted scene that was missing. What deleted scene does everyone want to see? What is the most famous deleted scene in the last fifteen years?

Yep, the Kevin Costner-as-dead-Alex flashback scene. Left it out. What is the point of doing a special fifteenth anniversary edition of the film and leave it out? What the hell was Kasdan thinking?

Then I watched Four Weddings and a Funeral and felt better.

So, the countdown to Star Wars is getting faster! And clearer.

It seems that they will be selling tickets at the Ziegfeld starting at 3p on the 12th, and one of the guys in Shipping is planning on getting on that line on the day before and buying all of the tickets he can and scalping them, so he's selling a pair to me and Nik.

Thank goodness, as I really don't feel like spend an eternity on that line. Hard to believe that this is only a movie, as it seems to require the same level of planning as the moon landing!

Speaking of birthdays, mine isn't for another four months, but the other day when Molls asked me how old she was, I, without thinking, said 35.

Yep. 35. Is what I am not yet, dammit, but it is breathing down my neck. Middle age, baby.
