(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

24 April

Hooray, it's the weekend!

And a very lovely Saturday it is, too, though it won't much matter as I'll be spending the whole day in the darkroom, it'll be nice to know that it's nice out there.

Yesterday was a pain. Usually Fridays are pretty angst-free 'round our way, and it seemed that it would remain so most of yesterday, and then, between 4.30p and 6.30p there were about eight giant emergencies.

What the hell could be considered an emergency at 6p on a Friday night? What is wrong with these people?

I did want to stay longer and get some damn work done, but 'twas not to be, as I had agreed to babysit for Cynthia and she was picking me up in the car.

I so rarely hit rush hour traffic that I was surprised at how terrible it was and how badly everyone was driving (a slight rain didn't help). Every time I would make a noise, Molly would pipe up from the back seat:

"What's wrong Kymmie?"
"Everyone's an idiot."
"What's wrong Kymmie?"
"Nobody knows how to drive."
"What's wrong Kymmie?"
"Fuckhead here just cut me off, and I can't find the horn!"

And Katie said "Mommy doesn't know where the horn is, either."

Got them home, dropping Katie off at her Dad's first, read a couple of stories, then put Molly to bed. She was acting a little silly, but not actually bad, so when I went downstairs she called after me "Be sure to tell Mommy that I was a good girl! And tell Mommy that I was an obedient girl!"

So I did.

It took Bonnie about half an hour to get to sleep, but she kept calling out for her Mama, apparently no longer thinking that I am the sun and the moon.

Molls at that age was much more dramatic, holding out her arms to the empty air and sobbing "Mama! Mama!" All very Evita. Bonnie is more subdued, she will look into my face searchingly and ask, a little tearfully, "Mama? Mama?" "Mama's coming home soon." Pause. "Daddy?" "He's coming home soon, too."

It's all very sweet.

Mark Bridgeman is making me a search engine! Isn't he a sweetie?
