17 April Thursday night I went to bed at 3.30a and could barely drag myself out of bed at 9.45a. Last night I went to bed at 1.30a and was up at 8.45a without an alarm. Of course, I only was up because I had to go to the bathroom and then I went back to sleep until noon, but still, it seems that I've got something backwards somehow.
When I did wake up, there were these strange noises in my head. Voices, voices in my head and I didn't recognize them. Had I gone schizophrenic overnight? Nope. It's Little League opening day. At least they weren't using the fucking loudspeaker this year.
Last night I was waiting for Nik at work, hoping that there wouldn't be a late pickup, but there was, so I decided not to hang around, since we're going out tonight anyway. So instead, I went to the supermarket! Twice! Yes, two different supermarkets on a Friday night, party animal that I am. Hold me back!
I tell myself stories to go to sleep, always have, but last night I was thinking about what Diane said here, that rather than restoring The Lion in Winter they were remaking it, so I was casting it in my head. Hopefully, the original will get restored after all, as it's a simply wonderful movie, but I think that a remake wouldn't be so bad, if cast properly. I think that the only person who could possibly play Eleanor would be Helen Mirren, and though I'd love to see Anthony Hopkins play Henry, it's a few years too late, so I think Liam Neeson would make a great Henry. And he and Helen Mirren have a history, so that would work. For the boys, I think Ewan McGregor would make a fine Richard though he may be a little young. No, wait, he can be Geoffrey and Aidan Quinn can be Richard. I had a John last night, but I can't remember who it was. And someone very young and very beautiful and very dignified needs to be Philip. For Alais, I was thinking, go with me here, Leelee Sobieski. She's a little young, but she has a gravity that seems older and she can look period (check out the Joan of Arc trailers), unlike most other young actresses. And for those who have no idea what I'm talking about, for God's sake go rent the video! It's a really wonderful movie.
