(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

12 April

So we met up with Amanda and Jeff yesterday for lunch, which meant that we decided on having breakfast at 9a instead of 10a so that there would be some digestion time. But since we had lain awake talking until around 2a the night before, dragging ourselves out of bed at that ungodly hour was difficult at best.

We managed to make it downstairs more or less presentably and converse more or less intelligently and had our pancakes (well, I did, he had waffles), then staggered back upstairs and dozed for a couple of hours before having to shower (him) and pack (me).

Amanda and Jeff picked us up around 1p, later than expected, but helpful with the whole digestion issue. They asked us what convention was in town, you know, the reason that we could only stay at Mellow Manor. I didn't know, but they suggested that it was a bad drivers convention.

We drove to Chinatown in the pouring rain, and had a very nice lunch. I fear that we somewhat bored Nik and Jeff with journal talk ("And we're being restrained!" I said "You can only imagine how bad it is when we're not being polite!")

Afterwards we went to a Chinese grocery for Amanda to stock up and for me to look at things like dried cuttlefish and go "Eeyew!"

Then back to the 30th St. station (we spent more time there than anyplace else in Philadelphia! I look upon it as a second home) and home to NY.

It really was a wonderful little holiday. Nik and I learned that we are capable of spending three days in each other's company perfectly happily, even though I snore. And we won't spend nine months next time between first mentioning a holiday and actually going on it!

O God. I have to go back to work today. Kill me now.

Today's horoscope:
This is a day to seek a broader perspective than your personal home and family. Look to the future. Reach beyond yourself.

One year ago today:
It was as though the city was on its best behaviour...
