3 April Shit, here it is 2.04p and I not only have yet to upload, I have yet to write a single word! You know, but for those twenty-one words in the previous sentence. And those eleven. And... You probably get the point...
Yesterday at work was funny, because The Raccoon had caught my Spring Fever! She was foofling around and acting slightly silly and not working very hard and sighing gustily every five minutes. I had to ask her if she was turning into me! But it was that kind of day at work anyway, since pretty much all of admin took the day off (astonishing how everyone gets all religious when it makes for a three-day weekend, isn't it?) and those that didn't, left early. I stayed until 7.30, me, like the good little worker ant that I am, but I cannot attest to how much was actually accomplished.
I, for my sins, decided to start another project yesterday. In my copious free time. God help me. On the Randy Newman list, we were talking about other music we were listening to, and I suggested starting a tape loop like the Bragg list did so very long ago. Of course, that list totally fell apart, but it was fun while it lasted. It was too long, anyway. A tape loop is like a bunch of people standing in a circle and A passes a tape to B who passes a tape to C who passes a tape to A, and then next month they send the tape they got last month and on and on until you get your own tape back again. Of course, I never got my tape back from the Bragg Loop, 'cause as I said, it fell to bits, but I got lots of swell tapes and was introduced to lots of great artists. I have faith that this one will not disintegrate, since I have started a mailing list for the purpose of keeping us in touch.
The funny thing, though, was a Newman List member who was shocked, shocked, that anyone would make a mix tape, since it says on every cd and tape: "All rights reserved. Unauthorized duplication is a violation of applicable laws. All rights of the producer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved." He kept sending little outraged notes about stealing all day. it was incredibly amusing. Were it not 2 April, I would have thought that it was an April Fools joke, but he was completely serious. I do feel sorry for any friend of his who might attempt to give him a mix tape, he'd wrestle them to the ground and call 911 quicker than a wink! When I saw my horoscope today (scroll down) it seemed apt under the circumstances!
Speaking of tapes, I got ten in the mail today, five from Shmuel and five from Aaron, my very first boyfriend from freshman year in high school when I was fourteen. An embarrassment of riches! I know what I'll be doing today...
